In times of happiness, darling little dents of delight appear on her youthful visage, the dimples ever present whenever any form of smile or grin makes itself known. Saya was born in an orphanage in Osaka, the second largest metropolitan city-state in Japan and her life wasn't a bed of roses. She was found wrapped in a bundle of thick cloth with nothing else accompanying her except for a letter tucked in with her noting down the full name her parents had chosen for her. They had also written down that they were not able to take care of her, and thus they had made the decision that this would be the best thing they could do for their daughter. The orphanage the young Saya grew up in was a busy one that was filled with other children her age of similar backgrounds, all of which had been abandoned by their parents. Life was not easy, as any child in the orphanage would tell you, especially watching your friends go for good, picked up for adoption while you remained behind. Watching scores of her friends leave as she grew up into her teenage years, she'd been one of those highly unfortunate enough to never get a chance at being picked for adoption. There was always this reason or that reason, somehow it was always that boy or this girl, but never her.

As she grew into a young woman, Saya was eventually forced to leave the orphanage to make space for others as she was no longer a child. Kicked into the streets with nobody she knew and no place to stay, life was extremely rough and she had to live hand-to-mouth every day, going as far as to steal basic necessities such as food and such when the circumstances forced her to in a bid to survive. All of this would change when she eventually come across a former friend who had been kicked out of the same orphanage a few years before her. 

His name was Hitoshi and when the two recognised each other, they began to chat and catch up, sharing details of their lives up to this point. He told her that he was walking as a police officer now and asked her what her plans were now. When she said she couldn't anything meaningful to do, he encouraged her to sign up and join him as well as a police officer. She decided to take up his suggestion and cleaned herself up as best as she could before she headed to the station. She managed to pass the initial interview and was sent to police academy where she would complete her training. After graduation, she was certified a fully-fledged police officer and was sent onto the streets to serve the city and uphold the law, a far cry from her thieving days. Disillusioned with corruption in the police force, Saya then left Japan for good as she travelled the world with Hitoshi, picking up English along the way due to an interest in such a universal language and effectively became bilingual. The two of them began to take up work as mercenaries doing all sorts of work, ranging from protection and security detail to bounty and treasure hunting. Whatever paid the bills, they did it. The pair eventually separated when their opinions on the E-6 differed. Hitoshi was content living where he was, but Saya yearned for more. A place within the star and more. She wants to see what the universe has to offer.
