On top of that, Isaiah has the bonus of height from his white father and is around 6’3” and who can resist a tall man? No one! He is of mixed heritage, but his facial features are more Japanese than they are white. He has monolids, a narrow jaw, and smooth black hair (it tends to look wild and out of place more than kempt due to his frequent naps). His spindly frame has been adorned with multiple tattoos – one on his neck that says “leap” in script, a tattoo on his forearm from elbow crook to wrist of a tree with a geometric pattern, and a tattoo on the back of his right shoulder depicting Atlas holding up the world. Isaiah’s ears are pierced and he prefers to wear silver studs rather than anything ornate. When it comes to clothes, Isaiah tends to dress in monochrome colors in a mix of hoodies, plain black or white t-shirts, and jeans. Every now and then, he’ll wear a sweater. His arms are covered all the time, though, due to having self-harm scars on his wrists. Other than his love for body art and predilection to simple silver jewelry, Isaiah doesn’t pay much attention to upkeep other than the basics of hygiene. His hair is typically combed lazily, though will be mussed in an hour or two after one of his infamous power naps, and he doesn’t spend an extraordinary amount of money on cologne or clothes. One of the most defining features of his personality is his characteristic grumpiness and foulmouthed snark. He doesn’t care about your life or your problems, and he’s blunt enough to tell you that. His patience is thin and easily snaps, leading to him lashing out with scathing, sarcastic quips and his default mood is, well, moody. Isaiah is prone to a sour disposition and most things set him off – loud people, annoying people, overly-chipper people, people being in his presence in general. It’s said that Isaiah feels his best when he’s kept to his introverted self with his phone in hand and far removed from others. On the off chance that Isaiah tolerates you, you’ll learn soon that his personality is a hit or miss. He’s known for being incredibly deadpan and having a dry sense of humor. Most can’t tell when he’s joking or not, since his expression is only always annoyed and never shifts – his tone doesn’t change either. Most of his comments and quips are at the expense of others, friend or foe, and he doesn’t particularly care about hurting others’ feelings. Isaiah’s whole being radiates apathy. But, also, he just seems…tired. All the time. It’s no secret that Isaiah is lazy, what with his ability to fall asleep anywhere and frequent napping habits and, well, laziness. But, he seems weary on a bone-deep level, with his tiredness sinking into every pore and every line of his body. It’s hard not to be weary, though, when you have so much cynicism in your body. Isaiah carries a lot of animosity towards humankind on his shoulders and burdens pessimism like no one’s business. The technical term to classify Isaiah would be “misanthrope.” He hates humanity, thinks the worst of them, and hates being near them even more. His hatred for humanity isn’t because of some weird deep-seated trust issues or some professed love for nature or whatever else humans have managed to screw up. Isaiah dislikes humanity because he finds them annoying and trashy and just doesn’t want to associate with them if he can help it. (But he’s oh so incredibly lonely). Maybe it’s because of his dislike of others that he tends to be so judgmental and tends to believe every preconceived notion he makes like they’re the gospels of his own religion. Or maybe his judgmental self is the reason why he’s so misanthropic – no one really knows. With all his tiredness and negativity, it’s no surprise that Isaiah’s patience is thinner than the strings of the world’s tiniest violin. He has a hot-temper and tends to make rash decisions when he gets angry. Multiple times Isaiah has started fights when someone has pushed him too far – not because he can’t control his anger, but because he didn’t want to. His predilection for violence isn’t so much for lack of control but rather his apathy that doesn’t stop him. It’s hard not to punch things when you don’t care about consequence. However, Isaiah isn’t all fists flying and mood dying. He can be responsible if he cares to or wants to. Typically, this responsibility makes him the designated driver or the tipsy one that manages to get all his friends home single-handedly. Things aren’t all so bad for Isaiah, though. While he’s not winning any personality contests, he does have his good parts. He’s a smart young man, who can really put his mind to work and be productive in the laziest way possible. He also prides himself on his observational skills – though he doesn’t really make much use of what he observes, but he does make quite the good resource for gossip or other such things. Above all though, he’s very thoughtful and philosophical who shows the capacity to think deeply and in-depth. When he bothers to talk about things he likes, such as architecture, he could blow your mind with his insights!
𝗁𝗂𝗌𝗍𝗈𝗋𝗒 ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔✘
Isaiah grew up in a dysfunctional family. But, then again, who hasn’t? The Walcott family was formed when a lovely Japanese woman moved to the United States to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming an actress in California and then ended up settling in Mississippi with the whitest of the white husband, working as a housekeeper for rich white people. There’s something romantic in there somewhere. While Isaiah’s mom was settling for something way below her high ambitions, his dad achieved higher than he expected. Steven Walcott had made peace with being stuck working at Publix, alone, and ended up married, with a wife and two sons, and being responsible for an entire county’s worth of employees for the soda company he worked for. Overall, they were the average middle-wage American family. On paper at least. When it came to family interactions, they all hated each other except for maybe Manami Walcott (her American name is Susan). Manami was pushy and liked to micromanage; she constantly hovered over Isaiah and his little brother, Elijah. Not only that, but she allowed herself to be run over by Steven constantly. Meanwhile, Steven was an overemotional man not built for fatherhood. He was prone to outbursts and emotionally abusing his kids by demeaning them in different ways. If he got into a fight with someone, he would go months without talking to them and giving the silent treatment. In general, he didn’t know how to handle kids and, when he wasn’t ignoring Isaiah and Elijah or berating them harshly, he was crying and talking about how they hated him and he was nothing. It’s probably because of this that Isaiah and Elijah both became emotionally distant people. Isaiah and Elijah didn’t get along, either. Despite being four years his junior, Elijah liked to pretend he was smarter than Isaiah and tended to look down on Isaiah until Isaiah taught him a lesson the fist and foot way. Isaiah and Elijah didn’t have a sibling rivalry and they weren’t best friends; the most connected they were was a begrudging acknowledgment that they, indeed, share the same parents. Growing up this way, Isaiah never really had many emotional connections with others and preferred to keep to himself. When he was a kid, he tried to make his dad happy – not because he wanted approval, but because he wanted his dad to get the fuck off his back – but when that didn’t work, Isaiah focused his efforts on picking fights with his dad. Constantly in one fight or another with his dad, Isaiah was mostly always receiving the silent treatment from his dad. And, well, when the worst thing that could happen to you was your dad not talking to you for a couple of months, Isaiah disregarded any respect he had for rules. In high school, he ran around being a general delinquent and getting into trouble – just because he could – but he always knew when to draw the line. Now, most people wonder when meeting Isaiah, why such an antisocial asshole would join a fraternity. Is it because he’s lonely? Because he needed the scholarship? No and no, but he did get a scholarship anyways for it. Isaiah chose to join Phi Kappa Delta because it was cheaper living in-house than it would’ve been living in a dorm – and, for fuck’s sakes, he needed to get out of the Walcott house. And, well, if some of the members managed to grow on him (like a gross fungus) then you’ll never know.
