They were always louder when new people arrived on the grounds. Evelinas eyes darted about as she brushed some of the moss out of the way as she walked. There was much on her mind right then, most of it pertaining to the new arrivals but it was not the only thing. The Dice had been busy that morning. She had to wonder to herself if Nancy had seen these deaths in the cards. It wasn't uncommon for her to but if the death was not meant be stopped or to be paid close attention to yet she doubted Nancy would have rushed to speak to her about it. It was probably a good thing she hadn't seen her counter point today as of yet. These new Paradoxes had just arrived and there was much to do. Not to mention they did not know of their powers yet, they had not manifested. There was no way she could send them on a case if something came up. It would have to be one of them and perhaps Alicia. No one else was available right then. If something was serious enough Evelina herself might have to go but she never enjoyed a mission, especially when there were new arrivals. She wanted to be there for them, as much as she could. As much as she could... That was a difficult thing to balance. Evelina was a very conciliatory person, she wanted to pacify and placate the new arrivals desires to know more. To answer all their questions. To make things as simple and easy for them as possible. Yet she couldn't. She knew better. She knew the consequences to giving into a childs wants instead of taking care of their needs. Though she had never been a mother in a traditional sense, it was an impossibility, she had tried to be a mother to each Paradox she created and brought into the fold. Infact, there was at least one that she doubted she could look at as a daughter anymore than if she had birthed her herself. Some bonds were unfathomable. A slight smile, a rare one, came to her lips thinking on her first. On her dearest. Such a remarkable woman and one that had brought so much joy when she was there. How she missed her and everything that came along with her. It had been so very long ago. And while as each day ticked by the pain of losing Drem became more manageable, it was the opposite for her "daughter". Each day that drew by that she was not close to her was more difficult. Yet there was nothing to be done about it. Somethings were as they were for a reason. The Dice understood it and while she did not find joy in it, the thought of her daughter steeled her resolve to hold her ground with the newest groups of Paradoxes. She would not make the same mistake twice. Stepping into he kitchen house she perked a brow noting that an apron was gone. That was odd, she would have to inquire with Gilbert about it later but as she could recall, the one that was missing was not the same one she had noted earlier. Perhaps Gio or Nancy had been down this morning, or perhaps it was Alicia that had taken it. Moving over to the dry storage Evelina began to collect what she would be using to put together a quick lunch for the group and pondered something else as the trails of smoke came up from her pipe and wafted around her as she held it in her teeth. "Just where is that girl."

Alicia Gonzalez

Location: Ville au Camp - Mill Skills: Empathy
Where was that girl indeed? That girl was busy working. Well not exactly working. She was working on something alright but she wasn't working. Not in a traditional sense. This wasn't part of her job. This wasn't tending to the weapons that Gilbert had given her to clean. This wasn't welcoming another new Paradox. This wasn't studying to make sure she could handle a new paradox. This wasn't even practicing the form of martial arts that Gilbert had shown her so that she could relearn to defend herself since the abilities she had that had manifested were not exactly things one could use to defend ones self against a sudden attack. Dreams and Empathy did little in that regard. Interesting yes, useful in a shootout - no. Yet she still worked and was grinning from ear to ear. Looking up at her work she felt she deserved a pat on the shoulder and so she gave herself one. Everything was in place. Now to wait. Thing was, she did need to get back to the group now and actually work. Do her job. Damn she didn't want to. She wanted to climb up to get a good seat, sit, wait, and watch as it unfolded. Oh well, wasn't anything that could be done about it. She had to get a move on. The fact she would get to catch up with James some was a nice thought. She did want to ask him about Ash. That wasn't a channel she was allowed to watch. As Evelina put it - It was none of her concern anymore. It irked her but she let it go. That life wasn't her main life, it wasn't the one that was more prevalent in her mind. The one with Liam was. Yet she still wondered but she didn't push it with Evelina. They had had a chance to sit down and talk once and she learned a few things about The Dice. It didn't make her hard ways any easier to swallow but she found herself less likely to mouth off. McCormick probably wished she had learned to do that BEFORE she died.
