Because being a former villain is a far more interesting archetype, [@Metronome]. The sort of situation where one does the right things but not always for the right reasons and or is feeling them out. No less, that sort of, "Wait a moment, weren't you a 'bad guy'?" and the reply of "I still am." and the implications therein it holds are much more amusing. A redeemed figure, but not quite. Still not a paragon of good and righteousness associated with "heroics" but no longer the actual enemy.
