Name: Howard Thatcher

Age: 29

Appearance: Howard is a tall, gangly man with long limbs and a constant nervous expression. He's always fidgeting and glancing over his shoulders, and his constant slight hunch has the effect of making his great height seem more awkward than imposing. He keeps his brown hair cut short and his mustache trimmed and curled with a meticulous care that has caused the term 'dandy' to be applied to him more than once. Contrasting his fashionable grooming is his habitual choice of attire - he generally wears practical clothes and grease-stained overalls fitting for his job as a mechanic. He's never seen without his thick spectacles over his blue eyes, which combine with his slightly pudgy cheeks to give him something of a pig-faced appearance. 

Personality: Howard is an intelligent, soft-spoken and nervous young man with a penchant for mumbling to himself and stammering in the presence of others. He's been accused of preferring the company of machines to people, and it's not an unfair accusation - his truest joy in life is explaining mechanical concepts to people who care to listen, but mostly he contents himself with talking to the machines. In many ways, it's simplest to say he is a soft person - timid, gentle, empathetic. He'd almost always rather cringe away from conflict than participate in it, but he keeps his principles with conviction and strength of character.

In addition to his general nervousness, he has some pretty severe self-doubt issues stemming from his father's attempts to 'harden him up' - as a result he tends to take criticism very poorly, either lashing out or shutting down whenever an authority figure takes issue with his behavior or decision-making. He loves learning new things and coming to understand the world around him, though more than once his stammer and quiet demeanor has given off the impression of slow-wittedness to those around him.
