[@RabidAnubis] Yeah, I get what you're saying, but with Connor joining the police, I kinda got it in my head that he was inspired enough by them to want to become the closest thing to a hero of justice as an unpowered person like him could be. As for Elise becoming a private investigator, the way she does it, its about as far from the police as someone in that career path can possibly be. If I'm being completely honest though, its mostly because I watched that movie The Nice Guys that nobody remembers, and thought it might be fun to play her a bit like the magical girl version of Ryan Goslings character in it. Also, the way I've written her, she'd almost definitely be fired from any normal person job, because if she couldn't fight a bad guy, she'd probably just start picking fights with rude customers, and since she can't become a professional boxer or anything like that because she can't leave the city, this was the best I could really think of... That being said, I also thought it would just be easier for her and Connor to be friends with the police crew if they were also involved in that career path somehow. As for her and her fights with Connor, that's fine. I wasn't quite sure if the magical girl powers extended to superhuman physical abilities too or not, but didn't just want to assume. And he has learnt how to use a gun, but he and Elise just want to make sure he can be ready in just about any situation. He was the normal kid who joined in on the Justice Heart adventures, after all. He knows how a situation can make it so guns just don't hack it (accidentalswordpun). Also, as I'm sure has probably been noticed, I started... borrowing character traits from Fate ever since I used Saber and Mordred as character pictures, so he ended up pretty Shirou-ish, and I just couldn't stop him from liking swords after that! Again though, I get what you're saying, so if you really want them to not be in law enforcement, I'll try to change it somehow.
