The situation in Ziwa had remained light, but with two hundred militia forces ambushing and killing fifty of their men was something that would not go unnoticed. Minister Teleola implored the Prime Minister for the use of the Air Force to help them dispatch the enemy as well as gain an intelligence advantage over them. Much to his pleasure, Bassong agreed, so long as the targets were outside civilian settlements. Minister of Defense Teleola released a statement later in the day, “I have been informed the the military is allowed the use airstrikes against the Islamic Army in Ziwa. We will not target them in any civilian settlement however, but they will be dealt with and we will free the people of Ziwa from this threat.
