I wasn't sure what to do since most of the important characters already have analogues, so I made one that doesn't have an analogue instead. He believes true strength, body and spirit, stems from rigid, unceasing self-control and expects similar from his vassals. Unsurprisingly, this leads many to think him cold and aloof, but beneath his hard exterior Rey is still a boy in a world of men. He cares deeply for his subordinates, considering them the closest thing to family he's ever had. Likes: Children; the taste of a hard-fought victory; the ideals of the empire Dislikes: Unfairness and deceit; senseless killing; dishonorable and ignoble behavior; using his Teigu; Teigu in general Fears: The death of the empire at the hands of incompetents; the possibility that the Thousand-Year Empire may not be worth saving Brief Bio: Rey's story begins ten years ago. Descended from the First Emperor's bloodline, he won right of succession with the aid of a wealthy merchant who would one day become the imperial minister. The nobility, however, were restless and untrustworthy of the boy king, though they had no claim with which to match his own. Wishing to prove his worth, the boy asked his most trusted minister how he should put his vassals at ease. The minister, in turn, had a brilliant idea: The boy-king would go on a journey to reclaim the royal seal, thought lost in the civil war that had nearly torn the nation apart, centuries ago. Preparations were made in secret, for even in those days assassins worked cheap. The boy-king was to take with him only the barest of essentials and a party of his most trusted servants. A double would sit upon the throne in his absence. Supported by the minister as he was, none would be the wiser. Departing under cover of night, under a false name, he would explore the farthest reaches to find the imperial treasure. So the caravan set off, en route to the strange uncharted lands of the eastern reaches. It was not long before they began to meet trouble; bandits seemed to line every stretch of road. A mysterious illness befell those who drank from the wine casks. Areas their maps marked as safe passage were marked by the dens of terrible beasts. By the time they reached the empire's edge, it had become clear to all: This was no noble quest, but a death march arranged by the minister. Thus did the boy-king grow into a man, made lean and hard by a life of endless hardship. In the port-cities of the Crimson Coast, he learned to fight. In the lush jungles of Zuth, he learned to hunt. In the slave-pits of Ka'Zar, he learned to kill, and in this aspect found himself particularly gifted. Through this all, he hunted long-forgotten Teigu, facing their holders in combat and returning each time triumphant. Finally, after ten long years, he has returned to his birthplace to find it in shambles. Swearing revenge upon the minister, Rey set out to consolidate power within the capital and reclaim his birthright. Imperial Arms Name: Crownless King - Lemegeton Imperial Arms Description: A ring that burns with hidden power, bearing the imperial crest. Though it lacks the ability to injure others, it has a far more important use than simple combat: As the First Emperor's personal treasure, this Teigu can only be used by those who are directly descended from him, ensuring both the security of the sealed Teigu and Lemegeton's actual use as the royal seal. In short, it's concrete, irrefutable proof of Rey's status as the true emperor. Royal Seal: Lemegeton possesses the power to seal Teigu within itself, ensuring they remain safely out of human hands for all eternity. If Lemegeton were to be broken with Teigu inside of it, those Teigu would be lost forever. In theory, Rey could reverse this process to distribute Teigu, but as this goes against his goals of consolidating power he has yet to do so. Imperial Arms Trump Card: Royal Authority: Activating this trump card causes Lemegeton to give off a bright, captivating light. Save for the user, any living thing that gazes upon this light, even in passing, will instinctively genuflect so long as it shines and be unable to take any other action. No act of will can prevent this from occurring. Extra: -While his Teigu has little direct combat use, Rey spent his formative years exploring some of the harshest environments in the world, fighting life-or-death battles with opponents far more powerful than himself, and learning from the continent's foremost warriors and scholars. As such, he's fully capable of going toe-to-toe with Teigu users using nothing but mundane weaponry, wit, and skill. -Rey firmly believes that humans should fight via human means. To this end, he forbids himself the use of Teigu against those who are likewise not armed with Teigu. -Not counting those he and his servants currently wield, Rey has collected nine teigu over his journey, stored within Lemegeton.
