He favors comfort and ease of movement over any sense of fashion. He grudgingly wears his uniform, disheveled but surprisingly clean. As soon as uniform is no longer required he is usually the first out of it. His hair, a once ear-length curly mop of a mess, is now kept shorter and neater after he burned it all off.
Background:
Daiki's a free spirited kid. He gets it from his mother, a Japanese magizoologist who fell in love with a Brazilian Nijū student while studying Caipora in the Amazon, then left him to raise their son as she continued her studies and travels. Growing up, he was obsessed with getting out, doing something. Upon seeing a local group of older teenagers practicing parkour in his neighborhood, he became captivated. He came to practice his own "mini-parkour" out and about. His love of parkour was matched only by his fascination with space. At an early age he became dead set on becoming an astronaut. Between his emerging magical talents and love of sneaking out and running around the neighborhood, Daiki was a nightmare for his father. The day both a letter from Castelobruxo and a Japanese woman claiming to be Daiki's aunt showed up at the apartment was terrifying and relieving for poor Bruno Rios. After many long discussions, it was agreed that Daiki would attend his mother's old school, and stay with her family during the shorter holidays, while returning to São Paulo for the longer holidays. In this way he could learn about the other half of his heritage, both magical and Japanese. He didn't stand out as much as some of the other non-native students, but Daiki definitely gained a reputation. Restricted areas meant nothing to him, every structure was something to climb or jump off of. His teachers noted a lack of focus on his studies, though acknowledged Daiki was busy on his own project. Upon learning that space travel was not a priority for the magical community, he had set about changing that. After scouring the library for any mentions of space travel, he devoted much of his time to researching different ways of using magic to transport himself to the moon. He performs various experiments with anti-gravity charms, launching projectiles, broom flight dynamics, enchanting objects, often causing a spectacle and just as often getting hurt. His plan to raise money and buy an old muggle biplane to experiment with was quickly shutdown by his father, his aunt, and the teaching staff. Considering his location, there are other possibilities... While he doesn't believe he will have the proper resources to reach his goal until well after graduation, that has not stopped him from learning everything he can in the meantime. He was particularly fond of stealing quaffles so Hisaishi-sensei finally started giving him old worn ones to keep him from taking the brand new ones. Has spent the last few years doing his best to learn Japanese language and culture, as well as what he can gather of his classmates' languages.
