Yet when she is committed to your cause, she is a terrific ally. Her resourcefulness and use of strategy make her a formidable foe, and she does not hold back. 

More than just an agent, Novikova is also a funny gifted individual with a clear dry sense of humor. She enjoys saying moderately ridiculous things with a steady voice and neutral expression, only to crack the slightest smile after seeing the looks of shock come over people. Her curiosity drives her choices often times more than her ambition, as Novikova wants to learn everything there is that she can about the world - and maybe even save it in the process. [b][color=add3ff]Why did you want to become an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.?:[/color][/b] Novikova always knew that she would end up doing some sort of science - she never felt happier than when she was studying physics. However, as a budding nuclear physicist, she had three real choices. She could go into academia, where there isn't a lot of positions or funding; she could go into industry, where rather than using her knowledge to help people she'd just be contributing to some corporation's bottom line; or she could go work for the government. S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists get to see technology from other planets and encounter people with extraordinary abilities - it made her choice relatively easy. Plus, S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't too weird about her Russian heritage, and in this political climate, it's something she is thankful for. 

[b][color=add3ff]General History:[/color][/b] Novikova's parents divorced soon after she was born. Her father, a physicist specializing in radiophysics, was a second generation Russian immigrant and her mother was a WASP. Her father moved to Russia after her mother remarried when she was hardly two years old, leaving Novikova with only dim memories of her father. He wrote to her often however in Russian, trying to teach her about her heritage and culture despite the geographical divide. Her mother had different ideas and wanted Novikova to have a traditional American upbringing, with her step-father sharing that wish.

He was from old money and loved Novikova as if she was his own, sending her to the very best private schools in Connecticut. And while Novikova loved him, she missed her father and found that through studying physics, she could feel closer to him. She was something of a child genius, skipping several grades and earning her doctorate degree in Nuclear Physics by the time she was eighteen years old. Her father flew in for her graduation ceremony and it was one of the happiest memories of her life.

Of course, she didn't make very many friends that way. She had a few half-siblings that tended to tease her and make fun of her, especially for her natural silver hair. Her mother had suspected that Novikova might have been a mutant, but no powers showed up around the right age for it, so she thought nothing more of it. Some people just had silver hair at a young age. She spent so much time alone that she taught herself some random skills, such as picking locks and how to roller skate. It was a way to pass time. 

After she was approached by S.H.I.E.L.D. and committed to become an agent, she finally was among people who she could properly relate to. Novikova became really good friends with her roommate and some other students at the academy, finally achieving a stable social life. She excelled academically as always through hard work and dedication, proving to be a resourceful student. She managed to apply for graduation from the academy two years early in the four year program, aiming to be placed with a team in the field to work as their science expert. She's ready for an adventure.
