To clarify, the "turning" process does not happen immediately, it takes about 24 hours, so a day. 

So, that whole next day in the hospital, Alice will feel "funny".

She will feel weak and hazy, and suffer from headaches and stomach cramping through the day.

That night in the hospital is when she will fully turn and will start to strangely crave blood and will start having access to her Vampiric "abilities".
