My character for the second arc. I've been looking over this for too long that the words blur into one, so let me know you find if anything needs fixing. His hair is shoulder length with a natural parting down the middle. When he remembers, he'll brush it. Jewellery seems looks too gaudy when he's tried it, so he goes without. He has one belt, made from worn brown leather, that he'd owned since his early teens. His only shoes are narrow and brown-leather things with scuffed heels. At one point it was so severe he had nearly become monosyllabic. However, upon taking up Xavier’s offer, some of his old self seemed to return, in that he could engage in conversation, and might even initiate it on occasion, though when speaking he is fairly monotonous. Having a dry sense of humour, it is rare he displays many emotions at all. He is in fact deeply concerned with his future; just thinking about it fills him with dread, so he tries not to, hiding behind a wall of indifference, feeling his way blindly along with short term decisions, hoping it works out in the end. Despite being relatively relaxed, he takes time to warm up to people and is prone to leaving social situations if crowds grow too big or he becomes to uncomfortable. Habits: Does not untie his shoes before taking them off. Runs his hand through his hair when stressed. Hobbies: Making music. Not having anyone Will would call a true friend, the puppy, Gabrielle, was the thing closest to him besides his mother. One year later, on a morning walk through the local woods, Gabrielle was involved in a freak accident, when a tree branch fell and struck her. Will, dismayed and in utter shock, had rushed over to her, heaving the branch off her. She was still alive, but breathing ragged, whimpering breaths. Her back was at an odd angle, blood welled around her lolling tongue, and only her front paws moved. At a loss, thinking his closest friend moments away from death, he had begun sobbing then, stroking her mane to keep her calm during her final minutes. He remembered wishing he could do something. He shouted out for help, between snotty sobs. But he was alone in the woods with his dying dog. The sensation that followed was acid-etched into his brain. A tingling grew in the back of his head, like pins and needles in his consciousness. Suddenly, it surged down his arms and his hands spewed forth thick billows of sparkling smoke, like the night sky turned to clouds. It seemed to be absorbed into Gabrielle, through her nose and mouth, but also her skin. After a moment, her back legs twitch, and then she barked, and stood up, licking Will’s face. The smoke stopped. Her tail wagged. Will still cried, hugging her tight. Why did you choose the side that you did?: Will doesn’t want to bother anyone, he just wants the world to pass around him and give the same courtesy. Xavier affords that, lets him learn about what he is. He hopes there can be peace between the humans and the… the others. If there can’t be? Who knows? General History: Will grew up close with his mother, partly because he never knew his father – Will was told he had died before he was born – and partly because she was the most loving person he knew. At the time they hadn’t had much money, and his mother worked long hours, but she tried her best to make their time together exciting and memorable. Only later would he look back and realise how coddled he’d been. Decidedly average in school, content to muddle through, Will was neither popular nor unpopular. Overall: the definition of normal. Yet he never wanted to be anything more. However, after discovering his power and telling his mother, she felt forced to explain her history and his heritage. She had been a gifted sorceress and had aided many secret societies over the years and help avert numerous disasters, all kept secret as matters of security. For a time, she had even settled in another realm, The Shores of In-between and Twilight, a border realm between Limbo and the Prime Universe. Will’s father was a denizen of that realm, but after fight between his parents, Will’s mother had decided to flee and return to Earth, raising Will alone. It was a lot to take in. He had his mother explain her history and other planes several times over the course of a month or so, and after that he wasn’t sure if he really understood or accepted it all. Eventually his mother refused to say any more, telling him it would be safer to just forget about it all. Over the next couple of years, Will became increasingly withdrawn and antisocial, isolating himself from his small group of peers that called each other friends. He began missing more and more school days, and then dropped off the map completely. He had tried to experiment with that starry cloud like in the woods, but he couldn’t recreate it, and became increasingly frustrated. Viewing himself as a freak, he was scarred of leaving his house in case those powers he could not control chose to display themselves. Then one day, in the kitchen, he walked in on his mother talking with an old man with a bald head. He would introduce himself as Charles Xavier, an acquaintance of Will’s mother, and go on to tell Will he ran a school for gifted individuals, where you could learn to control that gift in a safe environment. His mother had tear-stained cheeks but urged him to go. Feeling a thousand numb emotions, the three had a conversation that seemed to stretch forever, before Will finally agreed. A few days later, bags packed, he set off to America with his dog.
