[@Mister Thirteen] The symptoms. They scream of the flu. So it's a stomch bug passed by vampric bite. There's also the fact that it sounds a lot like a book I read where a character was pregnant with a dhampir. Don't ask me the title it was years ago and I borrowed it. (It was not twilight.)
