The landship was slowly pushing on to the east, tearing up the thick snow of the northern tundra as its colossal caterpillar tracks kept the whole thing going forward. A large army consisting of tanks and IFVs was following all around it. The larger and heavier tanks driving to the sides of the landship, while many of the lighter tanks that weren't on vanguard duty were driving in the landship's tracks, so they did not have to drive through the thick layer of snow. Far to the front drove the vanguard, consisting of light and medium tanks outfitted with blades to push aside the snow to drive quicker, and with extra communication systems so they could communicate with the landship fleet's (an army of mechanized vehicles together with a landship is called a 'fleet' in the Lanist Khaganate) main vehicle, the landship. As the landship fleet moved to the east, it claimed a lot of territory for the Lanist Khaganate, and slowly, the AIR was building new roads, factories, mines and many more things after it while in the south, where the border between the Khaganate and unclaimed land began, there were great fortifications being constructed to prevent any enemies from breaking through and flanking the landship fleet, as the many natives and city states to the Khaganate's south favored blitzkrieg-like tactics, and because of the mostly featureless terrain of the tundra they could quickly overwhelm the landship fleet before it even knew there were enemies on the way. General Katie Anderson was sitting in her office, situated somewhere in the middle of the landship. She was currently studying an ancient map that they she had been given by and old man, the leader of his tribe who immediately surrendered, and gave her a map that according to him, would lead to great treasure. Logically of course she wanted to take the riches for the rest of the Khaganate, and so she was currently deep in thought at where it might be. Then she figured it out, and quickly called for the captain of the landship, Jord Artac, Enthusiastically telling him to go east-south-east. She also contacted some of the subordinate officers that were in charge of the various groups of tanks and IFVs that were driving all around the landship, and told them the same thing. Jord Artac went to the bridge, on top of the landship, and said "Navigator, please set course for bearing two two point five." And slowly but surely the landship and its fleet moved towards the southeast. While they were driving the daily Kurultai meeting started in the capital, and Katie was of course required to attend, and so she turned on the large screen that was on one of the walls in her office. It was a bit blurry at first, but then she could clearly see the rest of the Kurultai. She noted that General Nurzhan was also only a screen rather than a real person, concluding the Khan must have sent him away to the south to protect the Khaganate's southern border and make sure the landship fleet wasn't flanked. After a while of driving contact was suddenly lost with the fleet's vanguard, and after an hour or so three great holes could be seen, going deep underground. The purpose of the holes was unknown, and the landship fleet prepared to avoid them, but then suddenly another hole opened up on right under the landship's front right caterpillar track, and the landship could stuck, tilting forward and to the side slightly as it tried to escape the hole. All of a sudden, thousands upon thousands of strange creatures the size of small horses flooded out of the three holes in front of the landship. They all looked identical and were humanoids with ash-grey skin, 4 red glowing eyes, and abnormally long arms. They walked on both their arms and their legs, only ever stopping to attack something. General Anderson initially didn't know what was happening, but captain Artac did, and he immediately ordered the Landship to fire upon the horde of creatures. He then contacted General Anderson, and she immediately ordered the many tanks to fire on the creatures. And so the great battle of the Eastern Frontier began. The great thunder of cannons began slowly, as more and more tanks, self-propelled artillery and anti-air cannons began shooting while slowly moving to form a circle around the landship, the noise produced by the fighting increased. Soldiers got out of their IFVs and started shooting the strange creatures with their automatic weapons. Soon the snow was red with the blood of the creatures, but the line was still holding strong. General Anderson however foresaw that this wouldn't be the case forever, and immediately asked General Nurzhan for assistance. Arman reluctantly agreed, rather having her beg for his help later, but he couldn't really decline in front of the Khan, and so he immediately gathered his soldiers nonetheless, and began to formulate a battleplan to help General Anderson. He didn't really want Katie to be dead, because who could he try to outclass then? The battle continued relatively well for the Landship fleet near the eastern frontier, but they would not hold out forever, and soon the alien creatures would break through the line, and who would save them then?
