The mother and father sat there and thought about it. They looked unsure. They both had to take a mental step back and ask Was it really this kid's fault? In the end, they came with a similar conclusion, their eyes meeting telling it all. Finally, it was Adelfa's father who spoke. "If you really want to fix the car... Okay," he said, trying to piece everything together in his mind, "We can pay for the parts as long as you can fix it." Calix was slightly shocked with what he was hearing. They were going to fix the car she wrecked? How was that fair? They yell at him for not protecting her, then fix the car like she's done sort of hero? He shook his head. Adelfa was lucky enough to inherit their parents' old car- of course after working around the house and even taking up babysitting jobs for the brattiest kids on earth- and she chose to wreck it. Although he wouldn't admit it, he was slightly jealous. Had it been him in that crash no one would have fixed the car for him.
