He was no stranger to following traditions having grown up in a place steeped in Far Eastern culture and briefly considered the notion of bringing along the Pokémon that inspired him to go on his journey.  He spotted a circular recess on his Z-Ring that would hold a Key Stone at the opposite point of where the active Z-Crystal would go and felt glad he wouldn't have to wear both his Mega Ring and his Z-Ring on his journey through Alola and subsequent regions.
