Given the particulars of the setting and scenario, there's no reason at all why we can't have more than one sniper - the idea is that everyone is isolated from their respective chains of command and organizations, rather than all being part of the same organization or group, and come together through random events rather than by being placed together - banding together for shared goals and protection, rather than being ordered to do so. While I realize that doesn't reflect the 'authenticity' part regarding military 'stuff', it does make it more interesting and more survival-based, and is an alternative to let you (i.e. the players) play people from different groups and backgrounds.
haha I get that, but since they all are military they would all feel more comfortable in there respective roles, they would probably let the highest ranking person, or the person with the most experience take charge, snipers would prefer to act a bit independently and move ahead of the group looking for higher ground. That is the good thing about a survival story consisting mostly of military personal, while they come from different back rounds all military use the same structure and operate much in the same manor so when shit hits the fan and personal differences need be set aside they all have similar training and ways of operating so there would be much more cohesion then with a random group of survivors.
