To be fair, Zalek kind of just got there when Leval unwittingly started a murder party, and he was more concerned with the other dragon than what else was happening, so I doubt he even really noticed what was going on.  But that's why Prince Ali is a jerk, and in my book he deserved everything he got and then some.
