The instructor thought she was ready for real blades - yet her defense was weak and that lesson is now written across her flesh. The second scar is a burn scar on her left ankle. She had won a sparring match against an older boy and turned to leave - in rage that someone so small had beaten him, he lashed out and burned her heel. Her hair seems to have a reddish tint to it in the light.[/i][/indent][/indent]

[indent][i]Before her imprisonment, Jia Li's look was always clean and polished. As the daughter of a Fire Nation General, there was no telling who would come to call at any time of day. Now that her life has been taken away from her, Jia Li is mostly concerned with function over form - though she misses the days when she could take luxurious baths already.[/i][/indent][/indent]

She will keep on trying until the challenge is met and will never go back on her ideals. From this, she has the potential to be classified as good or evil - good for her resiliency, but perhaps evil for her relentlessness. She doesn't mind being the center of attention but doesn't particularly crave it either. She will always be there for her friends - to protect them or to be the hand that emerges from the grave to grip them by the throat if needed. This mania has a cost however. If her drive and will falter, she can spiral down into depression within seconds. [/i][/indent][/indent]

Even in formal Fire Nation ceremonies, she always had to twitch her toes ever so slightly inside of her shoes, practicing the motion so that way it would not be noticed. She will cross her arms when she is irritated or cross with someone or something, perhaps blowing on a stray piece of hair to get it out of her vision. When impatient, she'll tap her foot with increasing intensity overtime. [/i][/indent][/indent]

She's an early riser by habit, yet her bending is stronger in the day so she prefers the daylight hours anyways for that reason. She dislikes calm meditation sessions, finding that she often cannot focus long enough during them and her body yearns to move, to run, to fight, to do [i]something[/i]. [/i][/indent][/indent]

[indent][i]Jia Li was the only child born to General Zheng and his wife, Ying Li. Her mother was a second cousin of Fire Lord Sozin and had always wanted a daughter, someone to teach and to train. Jia Li was expected to master combat and etiquette, to be a perfect warrior of the Fire Lord and the ideal lady of the house. It was thanks to her mother's mastery of those two skill sets that her father was promoted to the rank of General when Jia Li was five years old - of course, the connection to the Fire Lord and his family did not hurt at all. 

Her private tutor, a man named Xuan Xinyi, was a master of many things - one of which was Pai Sho. He inspired Jia Li by challenging her thoughts, molding her into a fierce individualist who adored her nation and wanted to see it prosper. He marred her with his blade in a fight, yet she never held it against him. He was pushing her to be the very best that she could be - intellectually, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. While her parents were distant, Xinyi and her shared a familial bond. [/i][/indent][/indent]

[indent][i]Jia Li is currently estranged from her family, having been disowned by her father and sentenced to life imprisonment. Their perfect daughter - whom they had hoped would marry one of the Fire Lord's sons one day - was aiding the resistance and acting against the war effort. And while they claim that her actions are against the Fire Nation, Jia Li could not agree less. She loves her country and hates to see it corrupted, with soldiers aiding in carrying out acts of genocide. Her tutor had helped her in her theft and she was offered a pardon if she gave up the name of her co-conspirator - but she never did. [/i][/indent][/indent]

While the resistance received the plans and escaped, Jia Li was not so lucky. The only reason she is not imprisoned within the Fire Nation itself was that her father, General Zheng, feared she would inspire further acts of treason if kept in the homeland..
