[b][color=0072bc]How did you discover your powers:[/color][/b] When Dean was thirteen, he had gone to the park with his baby sister, Carrie (then five). He and Carrie had been running all over the place, laughing and just enjoying themselves. He had taken a moment to grab some water and when he looked up, Carrie was on the top of the play structure, teetering a bit - before taking a big jump and falling at least fifteen feet. He had no idea how she got up there, but before he knew it, his water bottle was on the ground and he had caught his sister in his arms. The fall should have killed her. And it was later that evening that Dean realized it wasn't humanly possible for someone to have that reaction time. He started testing his reflexes more and more, testing his agility and his speed. He and his parents eventually came to one conclusion - he was a mutant. 

[b][color=0072bc]General History:[/color][/b] Dean's parents were killed in a car accident, leaving him and his little sister, Max, orphaned. They had been living in New York City at the time, though neither Dean or his sister were old enough to remember their parents or their home. Unfortunately, they didn't have any extended family willing or able to take them in, resulting in Dean and Max becoming wards of the state. They were moved from group home to group home, with the system trying to keep the siblings together. Dean ended up being adopted by the Kesseli family, while a woman named Delilah Camelio adopted Max. 

While not all adoptions worked out, Dean got lucky. His adoptive parents were very kind and supportive, wealthy types that were not able to have children of their own. They paid for Dean to go to any summer camp he wanted, ensuring that he had the best education, and reading parenting books religiously in their attempts to be the very best. He grew up loved and had almost entirely forgotten about his biological sister by the time he was five. 

He was eight years old when his parents brought home a miracle - a bouncing baby girl named Carrie. Dean became rather protective over her, trying his best to step up to the plate and gain responsibility. His powers saved his sister's life and while his parents loved him, they knew that the climate surroundings mutants was worsening. They did their research and learned about Xavier's Institute for Gifted Children and told Dean that if he wanted to, he could go to school there - and be around other people with abilities. 

At first, Dean was skeptical - he felt like he was being sent away because he was different. But he didn't feel different - he was just like anyone else, only he had a gift. Yet when he saw a news report about the X-Men saving the day, Dean realized that going to the Institute could be a good thing. He'd learn more about his abilities and hopefully be able to join the team that saved the world. Of course, in the back of his mind, he can't help but wonder if his long list sister ended up at the Institute. He had tried searching her and her adoptive mother on Google, only to find that Delilah Camelio had been killed by one of her adoptive children - a mutant. 

He's been at Xavier's Institute for most of his high school career, going home during the summers to be with his family. Dean's got a lingering suspicion that Carrie is a mutant as well - but there's nothing he can prove yet. She's so young, only ten years old. He's lucky - he passes for human. Not all mutants can. Richard listens to it all - even if he calls him a puppy.

Dean cannot help but be a little bit scared of Lance Banner - as much as he is in awe of the kid of one of the Avengers. The main issue is that Lance's father has a reputation for turning green and destroying cities. Although Dean is [i]pretty[/i] sure that Lance isn't capable of that, he doesn't want to push his luck and tends to steer clear of Lance when at all possible.

Dean doesn't personally know Sara, but it's hard not to know of the mutant niece of the one and only Jean Grey. After Jean Grey went Dark Phoenix, the stories about it persisted at the school and were passed from class to class. His heart beats a little bit faster whenever he sees her around.

Dean has seen Beast around the Mansion ever since he started attending Xavier's School for the Gifted. One of the most vivid memories he has is how badly Beast was hurt after O.M.E.N. attacked the school - but also that Beast continued to fight even after it was all over for equal and fair treatment of mutants. A lot of people would have given up.
