"I'm told I'm quite timid and quiet all the time, I don't see myself either as jumpy or playful. I would much rather enjoy reading books from the library in the orphanage. I like to read a lot, there are so many fun stories in these books. About adventurers that had come back from the abyss and kept their dairy. I would like to go one day as well, they say it is really pretty deeper down. I don't show much emotion? Hmm, perhaps not so much, I don't know why I don't though, oh well. Delving in the abyss is pretty amazing, I find a lot of artifacts, the monsters are kind of scary sometimes though."

Karen her father died of young age, he had fallen down into the abyss after a minor accident, they could not find his remains back that had presumably fallen down too far. Her mother heart broken by her loss worked night and day to being able to support her children but still made no chance to do it on her own, Karen and Mona grew up in the orphanage after her mother could no longer take care of her. After the loss of her house she had handed the two young children over to the orphanage so that they had plenty of food and shelter to sleep. The mother left the city by boat after there was no more work to find to look for work elsewhere to maybe being able to support this family once more at a later point in time.

Karen grew up with her sister in the orphanage, her sister was two years older then her. Despite living in an orphanage they still enjoyed the times they had there. There were a lot of children their age and had plenty to play and read. Going in the abyss to delve just like their dad was still a bit scary at first but they eventually saw it as a fun thing to do for their bread and shelter. It was till a few years later that her sister had received a high fever and passed away due to mystical reasons the same week. Karen heartbroken by the loss of her last family cried for days. It took time for her to recover and luckily she did, but she never turned out the same, she was quieter and not as responsive as before. Karen still seemed to enjoy reading and chat with the others from time to time but felt more isolated and lonely when you would see her reading alone.
