The true cross organization has approached them several times but they refuse each time. There is a dark history between the early christian efforts to fight demons and the pagan witches that uses spirits to do their bidding. Many people were killed and witches were persecuted. However to be fair many witches experimented with channeling demons into their bodies and many were lost to possession. Though after Rin Okimura became the new demon king and the dynamic shifts into demon's favor they decided to put aside their differences and the oldest of the witch cults, Circle of the Full Moon, joins under the provision that they continue to teach them the old way. This is the story of how Amelia was inducted into the True Cross halfway through her training. To her the spirits that she has been able to see from birth are not always evil. In fact the ones that she grew up with in the forest were sprites of different elements that manifest themselves as pixies or fay like bright lights. They whisper secrets to her. She has to figure out which ones are lies and which ones are truth. The witches refer to their "power" as mana but it is all the same source as everyone else. Abilities: [hider=Tamer Abilities] - She mostly summons the fay sprites that often surround her in a protective wreath. She has different elements of fay she can summon ranging from fire, water, air, and earth. -Using her mana or blood as a catalyst she can empower the summons. By combining them she is able to create new effects but doing so is much more difficult than simply summoning them. Examples are wind and water making ice. Earth and Water making clay, Air and earth make sand, Fire and Water make boiling steam, Fire and Air make scorching, fire and earth make molten. -Trent Summoning. Being very close to nature she also can summon treants or spirits that possess trees. There has to be a tree around to use she cannot simply summon a whole tree. But its a powerful ability in a forest. -Channeling. This is her most dangerous ability and is expressly forbidden unless absolutely necessary. Its an ancient secret of the witches that allows one to summon a spirit or demon by offering up your own body for sacrifice. Doing so creates a possession. However if you don't purge the spirit soon they will take your body forever. This can be used temporarily on lower level demons to trap them or obtain knowledge from them. [/hider] [hider=Aria Abilities] Firstly she doesn't call them arias. She calls them incantations or spells. They are functionally the same. She has a grimoire with spells in the pages. Each of her spells have either a verbal, somatic or physical component. Some spell may have more than one component. I'll work on creating a whole host of all of her spells. Spells are either blessings, wards, seals, curses, hexes, jinx or enchantments. [color=82ca9d]Blessings[/color] help someone. Either yourself or an ally. [color=6ecff6]Wards[/color] are barriers. Pretty simple right? [color=f7976a]Seals[/color] are spells that bind spirits or people. [color=ed1c24]Curses[/color] are offensive spells that harm the opponent in some way usually in the long term. [color=bc8dbf]Hexes[/color] are short term more sever negative effects. [color=82ca9d][b]-chéad litriú-[/b][/color] [color=f6989d][i]"M'anaim, mo chorp is mo cheol, rob saer ar olc, ar aineol" [/i][/color] The incantation is a cleansing spell that is considered a blessing. It removes spirits from physical bodies. Its the go-to spell to get rid of demons that are possessing people or objects. However this is the first and most basic spell in her repertoire so it is the easiest to resist by more powerful demons. [color=82ca9d][b]-an dara litriú-[/b][/color] [color=f6989d][i]"Alt fri alt ocus féith fri féith!"[/i][/color] This incantation is another blessing that is a spell that fixes broken bones. Not instantly but it can put the bones back in proper places and hold them there for a time like an internal cast. [color=6ecff6][b]-an tríú litriú-[/b][/color] [color=f6989d][i]"Ním·thí bás for fecht, ro·fírthar mo thecht!"[/i][/color] The first warding spell. It is a basic ward that provides protection of a single individual, usually oneself. It provides a deflective barrier for spiritual attacks. It can be overcome but provides a bit of protection none the less. [color=bc8dbf][b]-ceathrú litriú- [/b][/color][i][color=f6989d]"Forraib ammarthan do gnúis."[/color][/i] The first hex. It is an effect that attacks the enemy spiritually. The effect takes hold and hits them like a sickness. Depending on the strength of the demon vs the stength of the caster it goes as follows. Far weaker than the caster causes instant death. Somewhat weaker than the caster causes debilitating pain and disorientation. Those equal to the caster take a minor effect that may sway the tide of battle. Somewhat stronger than the caster will have a negligible effect. Much stronger it will have no effect what so ever. [color=82ca9d][b]-an cúigiú litriú- [/b][/color] [color=f6989d][i]"Ní thardda lí tassi form!" [/i][/color] This blessing works specifically against death. Necrotic damage or fatal wounds have a special effect that kill us so this spell holds a person alive for a little while longer while someone attempts to heal them. This spell does not actually heal however. It simply prolongs the time till the soul leaves the body for a brief time. It also halts but does not reverse necrotic damage. [color=f7976a][b]-séú litriú-[/b][/color] [color=f6989d][i]"Cris nathrach mo chris, nathair ima·tá: náram·gonat fir, náram·millet mná."[/i][/color] This seal works by temporarily imbuing a belt, rope, chain or similar structure with a snake like animation that leaps out against a foe to bind them physically. By adding a bit of her blood she may forgo the requirement of a physical object and summon a spiritual snake to do the same. [b][color=82ca9d]-seachtú[/color][color=ed1c24] litriú-[/color][/b] [color=f6989d][i]"Droch do drochaib, dag do dagaib."[/i][/color] This spell is both a curse and a blessing though it is classified as a curse. It creates an area burst effect of magical energy that enhances magical effects on you and your allies while also enhancing the negative effects of magic on the opponents. It only increases the potency of already existing magic. It does not add magic on its own. [color=ed1c24][b]-ocht litriú-[/b][/color] [color=f6989d][i]"Gurab de lenus pudhar!" [/i][/color] A curse that attracts misfortune and other curses. Demons will find the aroma around them delightful and it weakens protections placed upon them. [color=6ecff6][b]-naoú litriú-[/b][/color] [color=f6989d][i]"Sét no·tíag, téiti Críst, crích i mbéo, bith cen tríst."[/i][/color] This ward creates a large spherical barrier around the caster that moves with them. The size and power of the barrier varies depending on the caster. [color=f7976a][b]-deichiú litriú-[/b][/color] [color=f6989d][i]"It é rátha tucsat ind nem talam ésca grían grind."[/i][/color] This is a spell that binds a demon to temporary servitude to the witch in exchange for a sacrifice. It is a pledge that cannot be broken by the witch and can be done with a summoned demon or a demon happened upon. [/hider] [/hider]
