There are 4 zones each representing a proximity. Certain abilities can only be used in certain zones and sometimes effects of moves will change depending on the zone you are both in. Identifying, managing and controlling distance is a vital part of every fight and your key to victory. Zone 4 'The Outer Orbit' This is the longest range that two humans can fight each other. No grappling only max distance strikes such as long stepping jabs and snapping front and side kicks. This is the 'keep away' distance. Used by highly defensive and technical fighters to cautiously spar and sometimes frustrate opponents. Zone 3 'The Tight Circle' Can be described loosely as 'kickboxing range' this is the distance where the majority of strikes are used. Jabs, Straights, Low Kicks, Body Kicks a few takedown attempts and much more can be thrown from this distance. Fighters who want to 'stand and fight' will mostly be in this range it offers the best chance to do high damage while still maintaining a level of defensive options. Zone 2 'The Pocket' Also known as the 'phone booth' this is the closest range for striking. Close proximity hooks, elbows, knees, body attacks and the vast majority of grapple attacks are used in this zone. Defense is very difficult and risky and damage output is high. With wilder brawlers getting the best of their styles 'swinging for the fences' at this range. Grapplers also have the most set up options here, with their opponent literally just within their grasp. Zone 1 'The Clinch'/'The Scramble' The closest proximity describes the standing grappling state of the clinch and the ground grappling state of the scramble. The is where clinch and ground strikes are used and all submissions and holds will be initiated. The grappling range is a chess game of wits and fighting for position but also a test of strength and toughness. The majority of fights end in this zone.
