Name: Foeldar Age: Unknown Gender: Regarded as male Species: Forest Golem Appearance: Abilities:

Hallucinogenic Spores - Foeldar breathes out a greenish cloud of spores which gently pulse with a cyan glow. Creatures that inhale these spores may very well fall victim to powerful hallucinations and will begin suffering from mild poison. Prolonged exposure to these spores will put most creatures into shock, though these spores can also be purged from the body quite easily by most means as they originate from a rather common hallucinogenic fungus.
Rage Swarm - Foeldar can beckon forth a mass of hornets when he's angry, which pour out from within his own body as well as from areas unknown. These hornets will temporarily harass nearby creatures, swarming and stinging for quite some time before returning to wherever they came from. Hundreds and even thousands of hornets can be called at a time, but Foeldar can only influence so many for so long.
Tend - Foeldar can fertilize the very earth at his feet to influence the growth of plant life in the affected area, causing some plants to mature more rapidly than normal. This process is tiring and will become exponentially more so the longer that Foeldar uses this ability.
Earthsense - Vibrations are continuously made by all manner of creatures that touch the earth, and Foeldar can listen to these vibrations by extending his roots into the earth beneath him, detecting all of the vibrations in the nearby area and allowing him to pinpoint the approximate locations of their sources. Materials such as mud, dense rock, and loose sediments (such as sand or gravel) negatively impact his ability to determine the whereabouts of the vibrations he senses. The more Foeldar focuses the clearer the image becomes, the further he can see, and the easier it is to locate a given source of vibration. The more he focuses and the further he tries to see, the more his other senses are consequently dulled, rendering him increasingly unaware of his immediate surroundings. When unfocused, Foeldar's Earthsense will only be able to reliably track sources of vibrations if they remain few and far between, like, say, four sources - one in roughly each direction. The more sources of vibration there are, the harder it becomes to even differentiate the sources from one another - though Earthsense can almost always determine the intensity of vibrations, which isn't exactly reliable information as it indicates not only distance, but strength, size, and numbers as well. When focusing on tracking a specific set of vibrations to their source, all other detectable sources will cause a level of background noise that disrupts Foeldar's ability to find his intended target (This goes for ALL sources of vibration as well, such as when an ally is speaking or fidgeting nearby, for example).
Special Weaknesses:

Fire - Despite being formed partly of stone and perpetually healthy vegetation, Foeldar remains very vulnerable to fire and risks being set ablaze. It may be important to note that he isn't actually afraid of fire, but rather that he's afraid of becoming engulfed in flame as a result of being unable to extinguish himself once ignited.
Scars Run Deep - Foeldar suffers from emotional and psychological turmoil resulting from the all too recent death of his most beloved friend, believing the cause to be a direct product of his own actions. Torn in half by the weight of his guilt, Foeldar has become exceptionally prone to hallucinations and episodes of blind rage. While there have been longer occurrences, these episodes typically only last a few minutes - but during that time Foeldar becomes highly unpredictable, and can be extremely dangerous to allies as well as enemies.
Delicate Flower - Foeldar is very protective of the lone lily flower growing on his left shoulder, as it is the only connection he still has to the dear friend he lost. In fact, you could even say it represents the very memory of that one and only friend, meaning this little flower holds some extreme importance. Should any threat of harm be posed towards this flower, Foeldar could very well enter into a prolonged fit of rage so blind and absolute that he may not ever come out. Even if he did calm down afterwards, Foeldar would be hit with a seemingly insurmountable wall of depression and could suffer from such effects indefinitely.
Weapons:

His Body - From his large arms to his powerful legs, Foeldar can utilize just about every part of his body in a fight. Additionally, he can extend vines from his wrists into whip-like appendages, or even use roots on the bottom of his feet as finger-like appendages.
Items: N/A Backstory: There's not much he can remember, and everything that matters to him would be covered IC starting with his opening post. This causes Darren's body to appear as a blur of color in motion to most people and creatures for the duration of Quick Step, appearing less blurred the faster an observer's reflexes are. Darren's reflexes temporarily heighten further and his perception of time appears to slow down somewhat, allowing him what feels like a precious extra second or two to contemplate on a course of action, like to prepare a strike against an enemy or reach out to grab hold of something. This does not allow enough time to do more than simply decide and then potentially even commit to whatever action Darren should choose to perform, depending entirely on the distance he traveled using Quick Step (traveling farther means less time to prepare other actions).
Ethereal Shield - Darren can create transparent magical barriers to protect himself from incoming attacks, requiring his focus, a free hand, and his energy. These conjured shields typically shatter and fade away after a single hit regardless of the strength of the blocked attack, though they do require less energy the more focused Darren is while casting. This ability is primarily used to protect against ranged attacks, especially as these barriers are much less effective at blocking melee attacks, though there's not much stopping more powerful attacks regardless of being ranged - such as with ballistae or powerful magic.
Repel - Darren can project a shockwave of force energy outwards from an open palm, normally dispersing in a conical pattern. Alternatively, Darren can press his hand to the ground to emit a weaker, radial shockwave that travels along the outward like a circle expanding out from his body. Regardless, Repel's strength fades with range, and surface area covered inevitably increases due to the shape of dispersion. Targets closer to Darren would experience a force strong enough to stumble them or perhaps even fling them into a wall, mostly depending on their size, while enemies who are just a few meters away won't experience much more than a light push backwards.
Special Weaknesses:

Rapid Exhaustion - Excessive reliance on Darren's magical abilities will result in an increased energy drain with each consecutive cast, causing him to become more easily exhausted as the frequency at which he uses his abilities increases. Rapid use of his abilities could also result in painful repercussions, which typically correlates to the rates at which energy drain and exhaustion increase. Creating Ethereal Shields is less taxing than using Quick Step, which is in turn less exhausting than using Repel.
Limitations of Plate Armor - As Darren wears plate armor, he is left quite vulnerable to attacks from blunt weapons or from sharp, thrusting attacks aimed at the openings in his armor. The weight of his armor slows his movement and restricts his angles of motion to minor extents, and his armor makes it noticeably harder to recover from exhaustion.
Weapons:

Single-Edge Longsword - In a world dominated by double-edged longswords this weapon is surely an oddity, but this longsword enjoys a slightly more aerodynamic shape in addition to having the ring guards for added hand protection.
Two 'Sword Breaker' Daggers - One kept in his dagger sheath, the other as a spare in his satchel. These weapons are specially made for parrying, though they can still substitute for a real dagger in a pinch.
Items:

Eisen Haut - A set of magical armor enchanted with the ability to repair itself over time much like a living organism. This process, however, will draw from the wearer's strength unless the armor is unequipped, which will in turn slow the rate of self-repair considerably.
Leather Satchel - Contains a few rations worth of food items, the majority of which being salted meat, as well as a spare 'Sword Breaker', a few trinkets of sentimental value, and a couple flasks of powerful spirits.
Belt Strap - A small leather canteen, a weathered war-horn adorned with faded symbols, a dagger sheath, a longsword sheath, and a couple of coin pouches are all tied in various places to his belt.
Backstory: Darren once considered himself nobility - and was even to be his family's only heir - but his time spent in service of Castle Ansgar was plagued by a great deal of sacrifice, leaving him utterly convinced that he is no longer of noble worth. Birthed within the stout walls of Ansgar's keep from the secret union of Attorius Raemus Dakarr, Darren's noble-blooded father whom was in very good graces with Ansgar's throne, and Delana Vaccanos Relder, Darren's peasant mother who was gifted with a noble's life after marrying Attorius. He took an early interest in the art of the sword and displayed exceptional skill for his age, quickly becoming one of the best swordsmen in all of Akripola - at least, according to his king and the nobles with which his father did business. Ansgar was a sort of city-state, an independent kingdom nestled on a mountainside comprised of little more than a singular castle and its keep, and the village which encompassed its walls. King Lauron Ansgar III, the local ruler, upheld many aspects of an isolationist ideology that was ever so favored by his father before him, though as the young king grew older he began to gradually ease Ansgar out into the wider Akripolan political scene. In the following years, King Lauron III sought council with a mystical oracle whom conveyed to him a prophecy of "a war unlike any other" would soon be upon them that was to leave all of Akripola ravaged in its wake. Fueled by the fear of this 'new war' and the added desire to solidify Ansgar's place in the world, the young king devised the Legion of Ten, an elite Ansgarian fighting force comprised of ten soldiers created to prevent what Lauron believed would be the complete annihilation of the Akripolan people. At the age of fifteen, Darren was one of the few candidates who were hand-picked by King Lauron out of the original thirteen. All thirteen candidates were forced to train harder than most of them ever had before and, once each of them had passed an individual test of their physical attributes, were subjected to intense rituals as a sign of initiation. These rituals were specially tailored to focus on the strengths and weaknesses of each individual, further improving each candidate's combat abilities and even unlocking hidden powers that they previously couldn't access, though each ritual had its toll and required that a sacrifice be made. King Lauron III was ridiculed for some of his more outlandish beliefs, such as his almost religious trust in the coming war and his submission of his subjects to such dangerous rituals. He was also heavily criticized for his claim that the Legion of Ten - a mere ten soldiers - were destined to bring about the dawn of a new age of warfare, much less save the world from whatever doom the young king believed was looming over the horizon. Despite the mounting concerns and doubts that plagued the later years of King Lauron III's rule, the Legion of Ten continued to meet spectacular results during field tests and demonstrations. Darren rose through the ranks far faster than his comrades, and for a time he was even considered the leader of the Legion. However, after an unintended altercation with the Stormpeak Empire - who were, at the time, engaged in a war with the Kingom of Nora - the quality of his leadership was brought into question, and he was faced with the punishment of exile. King Lauron III instead spared Darren his punishment, despite his voiced opposition and honor-bound willingness to accept exile, as Lauron was determined to maintain the Legion of Ten. Shortly thereafter, Ansgar joined with the Kingdom of Nora and declared war on the neighboring Stormpeak Empire, employing heavy use of the Legion throughout the conflict with astounding success. By the end of the war, the Legion of Ten had become known all across Akripola and solidified their popularly in the legendary Battle of Dimkarthyl. The might of Ansgar's Legion of Ten had been tested in this war, but still the purpose for which they were designed was yet to appear looming on the horizon. A few years after the war between the Kingdom of Nora and the Stormpeak Empire, King Lauron Ansgar III's only son died in an ambush while returning to Castle Ansgar from his first diplomatic mission. The attack was determined to have been executed by well-armed bandits, though Lauron III had succumbed to the belief that the attack was a part of some darker plot. A few weeks later the king's ever-growing paranoia blossomed and Ansgar was put on high alert for nearly four days, until the king suffered a heart attack late at night and died in his chambers. In the wake of the king's untimely death, the Legion of Ten was disbanded and its members entered anonymity. Ansgar itself later collapsed, fading into obscurity and leaving many residents, including Darren's parents, to relocate to other towns and cities to fend for scraps. Most of the members of the Legion of Ten were never seen nor heard from again, even by Darren - whom had elected to live the life of a mercenary in order to make ample use the skills he possessed, donning the surname "Relder" to further distance himself from the bloodline he believed that he had failed so long ago.
