Digimonstory Hackers: Resurgence of Jormungundr In the year 20XX, a virtual reality system was created called Eden. It allowed users to put on a headset and be taken into a virtual system. It was a moderate success at first, but quickly updated and became a cultural icon of Japan. It became such a success that many terminals appear all over the city so one can log in just about anywhere. After a bit, it just became a part of life. While EDEN became a great place to socialize and enjoy life in ways you couldn’t normal, there are a great many restrictions to the service. For one, your avatar of you is updated constantly, so you wear in client what you wear in real life. It’s a safety feature to counter stolen accounts. Or so they say. Unfortunately for the creators of EDEN, users found a way to break the code of the system to do a multitude of things ranging from illegal uses to grey area fun use. The people who use such exploits are called “Hackers”. There are a number of different Hackers. Some hack into other’s accounts to steal and do things such as ransom. In addition, on one of the private company servers, an experiment in Artificial Intelligence. It was brought to a point, and then they were forgotten. Much later, hackers found their way into the server discovering this new type of program which resembled monsters in this digital space so they all came to call the Digimon. Some hackers captured them to use as tools to force other hackers while some found them fun to just hang out with and make them stronger just to see what they’d turn into. It’s been about four years since Digimon have been discovered by hackers, and EDEN released the Digimon across all the servers even going as far as to set up colosseums and arenas for people to test their strength. Many shops popped up as well as the illustrious “Digi-Farms” for people that want to amass a great number of Digimon but are typically expensive. Now comes to the Hacker Gang known as Jormungundr. A couple of years later, a woman known as Manaka sent a mysterious letter to a small number of Hackers inviting them to join a rebuilt Jormungundr.
Pyro’s Rules of Having Fun 1. What the GM says, goes. 2. Please make at least two decent paragraphs. Just a little detail goes a long way. Don’t be an asshole, Keep things civil in the OOC, having characters disagree ICLy is entirely fine As for posting, I’m going to do a GM post every five days to keep the story moving. If we are posting quick enough, I will post more often. This way people will stay interested and posting. After two weeks of unannounced absence I will be removing players. It’s just rude not to say anything. Let’s aim for at least two decent paragraphs of text. Of course, at times it can be difficult to do so, and I understand. Welcome everyone! If you haven’t already, take a peak at the rules above. I don’t think it’s too harsh. Let me give a bit more information so we all can make our characters fit in a bit more.
This will take place in a slightly more advanced future in Tokyo. It’s safe to assume it’s pretty much a future where the only real difference is the VR EDEN. Characters are more than likely anywhere between the ages 16 and 26. While most people use the functions of EDEN, not many are Hackers and most would likely be within that range. For hacking skills, characters can range from utter newbie (but with some redeeming feature that would make Jormungundr think about wanting them around) to fairly experienced. Now then, I’m going to be doing Digimon a bit differently in this than most. I’m throwing out starting at Rookie level (unless your character is an utter rookie I suppose though perhaps it could be explained through a background) and we’ll have everyone start at Champion. I find that most Digimon roleplays never get past the rookie phase, so my hope is that starting at Champion makes it a bit more entertaining. Every character can start with two (though if you only want one that’s fine as well) to again spice things up. Most Digimon are pretty much fully loyal the their masters if treated well and fed. On the other hand, Digimon that are treated poorly are more likely to rebel. Many hackers just treat Digimon as tools but remember, they are intelligent AI that have thoughts and feelings. Now, who’s ready for a character sheet!?
Hacker Name: Gender: Age: Anywhere between 16 and 26. A Digivice is the device developed by the “EDEN Company” to act as the intermediary between a person brain and their Digital Mind which controls their Avatar in real time. There are plenty of different styles but the most recent type (currently the most popular as well currently) is a sort of visor that fits over the eyes. There are some that look like goggles as well. Digital Wave: Inside EDEN, a Digital Wave is of course a wave, but one typically only measurable from a large source of Data. Typically, the stronger the wave is the larger amount of data. Strong Digimon give off Strong Digital Waves so taking measure of these can help prepare you for the future. Server Security: By default, servers have a certain amount of security measures put in place as one might expect. Nowadays, many of these measures are a form of Digimon as even EDEN staff have found them useful in that capacity. Still, there are plenty of types of other securities such as firewalls and encryptions. Some call it just Security, though some do call it SerSec. Firewall: In EDEN, a firewall is much more a wall than one might expect. Typically, they cover spaces that Admins don’t want people to get into and their strengths vary. Some have a low skill threshold on the hacking front and can be very easy to simple move a few numbers here and there to open, while being able to take a concentrated blast of data. Others are the other way around, where they are next to impossible to hack into in a short amount of time and is fairly easy to just break down with Digimon Direct Link: As the name implies, it's a direct link from one server URL to another. In most cases, they can only be started in your own server and unless you own the server on the receiving end, it will spit out the users at the designated server entrance.

Thor: Supposedly one of the biggest teams in EDEN making their base in a private server. Their leader, Kousuke Uehara, was previously one of the hacker's belonging to Jormungundr. He was considered one of the strongest Digimon Trainers back in the day... Lately though... reports say either he lost his Digimon and no longer leaves the Thor server or that there is someone using his name. Only the top Admins know the truth as grunts that have been interviewed deny having ever met him.
