Whether it be the way spectral looking travellers sometimes disappear as seamlessly as they appeared, the strange sounds coming from the walls of the community centre, or the fact that no one dares go near the lighthouse at the end of the beach, it’s undeniable that something is not quite right. For the most part, the locals have learned to ignore it, perhaps even playing into it to attract tourists - after all, the only thing better than a castle is a haunted castle - but the strange occurrences around town and the townsfolk’s flirtations with the supernatural have never been dangerous. They’ve never hurt anyone. That is, until today. When a young girl goes missing on her way home from school, people are up in arms. The official line is that she ran away of her own volition, but anyone who knows anything knows that that’s not the case at all. You, dear reader, know that that’s not the case at all. Maybe you’re a member of the local witch’s coven, or perhaps one of the many ‘ghost busters’ who’ve set up shop in town to take advantage of Rawyn’s many goings-on, or maybe you’re just an average joe who wouldn’t be able to see a ghost if one came and yelled ‘boo!’ in your ear. Whoever you are, whatever your motivation, you want to find out more. And, perhaps, you will.

Overview
Hello there! Essentially, if you hadn't already gathered, this rp takes place in the present day, in the town of Rawyn, a completely made-up place in North Wales, where magic and ghosts are real, at least, to a certain extent. Your characters will essentially be exploring the secrets of both the town and the supernatural forces at play, and, hopefully, solving the central mystery. Tonally, this rp will probably get pretty dark, although more in the 'Neil Gaiman, weird shit going on' kind of way as opposed to the 'George RR Martin, killing and torturing people' kind of way, and will be based off a mixture of primarily mystery and exploration, but with a little action and slice of life peppered in for good measure. I'm aiming to get a medium-large group, although this could work with a smaller group as well, we'll just have to see what we get =)

Character Name

"Insert Witty Quote Here"

Back to Basics

Name:Full name please - first, last, and anything in between Aliases: Any nicknames, preffered names, or old names Age: If under 18, make sure to mention caregivers in their bio Gender: Tourist or Local?:

Appearance

Height: Build: Scrawny, curvy, bulky? Hair: Colour, length, style? Eyes: Colour Distinguishing Marks: Tattoos, Piercings, Scars, Birthmarks - anything the police might use to identify them Style: Hipster? Emo? Normal human? Please try to be as descriptive as possible - at least one paragraph General Appearance: Anything I missed? Do they have a sun tan from their recent trip aboard? If I took a meat cleaver to the centre of their skull would I have two matching halves?

Skills & Occupation

Occupation: What do they do? Where? Do they have more than one job? Are they unemployed? Hobbies & Interests: Try and come up with more than one if you can Skills: What can they do, and how well can they do it? No need to include things required by their job. Make sure any skills they have are explained in their bio. Supernatural Sensitivity: High, medium, low, or none. Characters with a high supernatural sensitivity will be more attuned to the ebbs and flows of the spirit world around them and find that any magic they attempt is more successful. High degrees of supernatural sensitivity are rare, and these individuals, gifted as they may be, struggle to be functioning members of society and often come across as a little...odd. The higher your character's sensitivity, the less successful they should be in other areas of their life, including skills and career. Note - try to keep your characters skills and abilities balanced and within reason. Everything should be explained in their bio, and I will send characters who are too OP or otherwise unbalanced back to the drawing board.

Psychology

Personality: How do they come across? Are they cheery? Morose? Prone to sudden fits of rage? Are they an open book? Or are they more insecure and secretive? What motivates them? Why do they get out of bed every morning, or not? Bio: At least 2 well developed paragraphs, if you don't want to share it here, feel free to PM me. You don't have to include everything, and I don't expect you to - just the basics, like where and how they grew up, how they came to be in Rawyn, any significant incidents you want to mention, and what their current living situation is. Weaknesses and/or fears: At least 3, of which at least one must be psychological and linked to either their history, their personality, or both. Again, if you don't want to share with the group, you can PM them to me.

Rules
1. This should be obvious, but I'll say it anyway:be respectful. We're all just here to enjoy an RP, so don't kick off if someone does something you don't like/disagree with. Keep personal conflicts personal, ergo, in PMs. 2. Try and post every week, and if you can't, let me know, either through PM or through some other method (heck, you could use smoke signals or carrier pigeons and I wouldn't mind - so long as the message gets through). I know life happens sometimes (or, more realistically, a lot of the time), but if everyone's waiting round for 2+ weeks for you to get a post out, they're gonna get bored and leave, so I reserve the right to move things along if I don't hear from you after a week. 3. I don't expect you to write a novel, but try to keep posts to a reasonable length. I'm not going to set a paragraph minimum or whatever, because I doubt we'll need one, but try to keep it to the sort of length expected in the casual section.

Feel free to suggest more locations! I will be adding more myself when I get the time, but this should be enough for now =)
North Rawyn
The Beach - For most of the year, it’s a picturesque expanse of sand, marred only somewhat by the growing global threat of pollution, the recently constructed offshore windfarm, and the gigantic concrete sea-wall stretching across most of the coastline. In the Summer and bank holidays, you can’t see the sand for the sunburnt-scousers and their kids making the most of their time off. This is good for the town’s economy, but not so good for the picturesque scenery the townsfolk enjoy in the off-season. The Prom - Rawyn promenade never quite lived up to the hype of the golden age of the British tourism industry, and so was never troubled too badly by its subsequent decline. There're a few shops selling rock and those weird toffee-dummy things, a few more selling various items of beach paraphernalia such as buckets and spades, a hell of a lot of chippies, and a hell of a lot more slightly run down-looking B&Bs. Eastfort Shopping Centre & Market - There are shops. Not very many, and not very good ones, but there are shops. North Rawyn Primary -The primary school serving North Rawyn. Quite nice. Eastfort - The main suburban neighbourhood in Rawyn, located in North Rawyn. Most of the people living here either own their home, have a mortgage, or are paying a hell of a lot in rent. Quite a low crime rate, also quite a low haunting rate. Everyone here trims their hedges, cuts the grass, and actually cares about hosepipe bans. Shifting Sands Caravan Park and Camp Site - A, slightly dilapidated, caravan park an campsite. The owners, the Smith family, tried to rebrand as 'Shifting Sands Resort' a few years back. It did not work. They still have a pool though, if guests are willing to brave the weather, the accumulation of black goop congealing between the tiles, and the old man who's been sunbathing on the only deck chair at the poolside since the place opened.
South Rawyn
The Community Centre - A crumbling wreck of 1960’s architecture, yellow tiling, and child-germs, but still weirdly welcoming. Home to a pool, a hall, and not much else. Every kid in town has had a birthday party here, and every kid in town knows you do not touch the strawberry laces sold at the tuck shop run out of the reception. The hall is available to hire for functions for £10 an hour, but the karate club instructor gets it cheap because she’s sleeping with Linda, the receptionist. Only mostly haunted. The local witch's coven meets here every Sunday. The Farm - Not an actual farm. Actually a slightly rough council estate located on what used to be farmland in South Rawyn until it was bought by the council in the 80's and heavily developed. Rough by Rawyn standards, but not really by the rest of the world's standards. People here care a little less about hosepipe bans, and a little more about the fact that the squirrels seem to be watching their every move. Rawyn High - Where all the teenagers living in Rawyn and the surrounding villages are. Kind of falling apart. Needs more funding. The only reason it wasn't shut down years ago is because the nearest alternative is fifteen miles away and just as bad. South Rawyn Primary -The primary school serving South Rawyn. Not nice. Rawyn Castle - Less of a castle and more of a crumbling ruin on a hill. There's still guided tours running all day every day though, not to mention an extortionate gift shop selling beer mats with the Welsh flag on, and an equally extortionate cafe selling cakes that the owner, Mabel, bakes herself every morning. They have a... questionable hygiene rating. Very, very, very haunted,or at least, that's what they tell people on the tour. The Lighthouse - Do not go here. Ever. Hidden away in a small bay, well away from the main beach, getting to it involves descending a crumbling path cut into a sheer cliff face, and is almost as dangerous as the place itself. Even tourists know to stay away.

Discord Server - https://discord.gg/7G78Jrp
