I should have been better."[/color] Mina's response was hollow and forced-sounding until the last sentence, whereupon her brow furrowed, her eyes looked down at her own feet, her lip snarled, and her voice was laced with self-loathing. She didn't add anything to Dulga's defense, and didn't say anything to the adults, even when Adriane glared at her. When Jais called her over to talk separately, she obediently followed. He'd notice that by the time she got to where they were to talk, her hands were clenched into fists, her knuckles white, and her eyes were fixed on the floor and tearing up.
