[@Kafka Komedy] well for Alm it was natural. In his tribe being a warrior was a thing of honor and he looked up to them at an early age. Even then he was trained from a child but didn't see real combat until he was 18. After his exile he might be frustrated feeling his growth to be stunted without the guidance of a master or his people. And even after all these years probably still feels a little like an outsider because most people wouldn't understand the whole fusing soulstones thing.
