Despite having a bad reputation for being an ambitious dick in the vampire community, Luka has his own charms. Most seem to think at a glance that he’s of the charismatic sort, the way he leans in close when speaking of some importance and the suave way he handles everything. When he needs to persuade someone the most, he tends to stutter because his mouth can’t keep up with his feelings. Though he seems graceful at times, the moment he notices attention on him he trips up. [INDENT]Luka was born in sixteenth century Russia as Yaromir Volkov. The Volkov family was noble in nature and vastly influential. Yaromir was the older brother of Yelena; they were close as children, not inseparable but close. Rarely fighting, the siblings got along well and were very involved in each other’s life. Belonging to an influential noble family, Yaromir and Yelena were exposed to Russian politics from a young age. While Yelena was embroiled in it, Yaromir ignored it in favor of playing with the young noble son of the Ivanov family. Matter of fact, Yaromir was very close to Nikola Ivanov, the heir of a very prominent noble family. They were childhood friends that studied together, played together, and ran away from responsibilities together. When they were seventeen, instead of laying with his wife, Nikola took to Yaromir’s bed in secret. The two had to keep their love affair secret lest terrible punishments await them for participating in homosexuality.

Things became complicated when his father had Nikola take Yelena as his third wife. His first two wives were sent away since Nikola refused to give them children; however, no matter how much Yaromir wanted Nikola to himself, he couldn’t allow Yelena to be disgraced like the others. Matters became worse when Yelena discovered their love affair and reacted terribly – the siblings fought for months. In her anger, Yelena told Nikola's father in hopes of him putting a stop to it. His father beat her into silence as he did not want the Ivanov family name to be ruined. Yaromir was enraged and, to stop him from confronting his father, Nikola went in Yaromir’s stead to challenge his father. Nikola and his father fought, and in the heat of the fight, his father struck Nikola. Nikola hit his head on the corner of a stair and died several days later, hand clasped in Yaromir's.

The day after Nikola’s death, Yaromir took Yelena and fled Russia as he refused to be a part of these dumb politics any longer. Taking the opportunity to escape dirtying the Ivanov name, Nikola's father blamed Nikola's death on Yaromir and Yelena which turned them into fugitives. When Yaromir was thirty-three, Yelena was poisoned while they stayed at an inn just inside of Romania. Unable to protect her or save her, Yaromir traveled with his slowly dying sister to a man rumored to be invincible. The Russian noble son pleaded with the Romanian vampire to turn him and then forced the bite onto Yelena to save her. When Yelena awoke, she regarded her brother as a monster and hated what he did to her. She refused to drink blood and eventually starved to death, wasting away as Yaromir could only plead with her to stay alive.

Yaromir traveled and eventually found himself in Britain. He felt he had no purpose, no one to protect anymore, so he threw himself head first into the thing he hated most: politics, vampire ones at that. Almost as a ‘fuck you’ to his sister for leaving him, he made it his mission to protect vampire lives. He resented his sister for choosing to leave him so much, he named a club after her that was wholly accepting of not just LGBT but Other as well. For right now, he’s laying low under the name of Luka Pavlov in Edgetoun as he gathers allies and he plans to eventually become a voting member of The Methuselah Court. His ultimate goal? Vampire supremacy.

In the vampire community, Luka has obtained a rather distasteful repute for his ministrations in trying to pull power among ranks. Using underhanded politics, Luka has framed vampires in higher standing than him to climb ranks – such as the time he killed a human and didn’t bother covering up everything vampire about it, then framing another member for it. He also is known for not holding human life high in regard, or life in general, and has killed in the past indiscriminately. It doesn’t help that his passion tends to lead him to starting fights constantly among his fellow vampires and has gotten so worked up that it escalated into a physical brawl. Secret gathering, blackmailing, framing, tricking…all methods he uses to become a prominent leader in the community.

Luka tends to lord over people here, making a point to walk around like he owns the place because, well, he does.
