His hair is dark brown, shaggy and disheveled, and kept short. His eyes are dark green, and still has a youthful appearance despite his rough life, and much to his chagrin he is still unable to grow a beard. His parents had nothing, everyone around him had nothing, and never expected to having anything. His mother was a bar maid at a local tavern, his father went through various jobs before eventually becoming a stable hand at the palace, a job that at first made the family incredibly proud. He was the youngest of three boys, his older brothers, Giovanni and Pietro, but remains the only surviving member of his family. His childhood was difficult, his family barely scrapped by, and with three growing boys to feed and very little to grow around they were often hungry. Enzo was five when his father died, an accident in the stables when one of the royal horses got lose. After that things for his family got harder and his eldest brother, Giovanni, joined the royal military and was a great soldier sending as much money home to his family as he could. When Giovanni died in battle they were told to be proud of his brother’s sacrifice for the kingdom but it only made Enzo hate the royal family, and the way the poor were treated as disposables, even more. His mother lost herself to grief having lost her husband and her son, most of the money she earned was spent on drink until one night she took her own life jumping from cliff into the ocean below. With Pietro being thirteen and Enzo being eight finding any sort of work that paid enough to keep them fed was difficult. They lived on the streets, looking out for one another, and stealing what they could to survive. Enzo was quick and agile with a natural charisma that made him an excellent thief but Pietro was slower, clumsier and eventually got caught. In hindsight Enzo knows they should’ve been smarter than to steal from a noble and so close to the castle too, but they were just so hungry. The king didn’t tolerate crime in city but he chose to show mercy on Pietro; rather than death they cut off his right arm. The young boys were too poor to afford any kind of medical care and his brother died shortly after losing his arm. At the ripe age of nine Enzo had lost his entire family, and the already world weary young boy was desperate to leave the city. He ended up as the cabin boy on ship, working harder than he ever had in his life, learning quickly everything he could about sailing, and managing to survive the hand he was dealt. By the age of twelve he found his way onto a pirate ship a life drinking, adventure, and stealing from royals was everything he could ever dream of. He worked his up the ranks slowly, learning everything he could as went from cabin boy to respected crew member. He took extra chores in exchange for lessons in sailing, sword fighting, and navigation. His hard work turned him from a scrawny lad into a well-muscled young man and although his fellow pirates were thieves and murders they had their own code that meant they took care of their own; Enzo was well fed and watched over for the remained of his childhood and he had found himself a new family. Throughout his life, he lost many more friends, fellow pirates to the harsh laws of the kingdom as those caught and found guilty of piracy were almost always executed. Somehow Enzo has managed to keep surviving, a man now he carries a deep hatred for royals, noblemen, and those who have exploited the less fortunate of the kingdom. Any extra money he has from his exploits, after keeping what he needs for living and having enough wine to never be entirely sober, he gives away to the poor of whatever city he ends up in, discretely of course not wanting others to see him as soft. Although he’s not above violence and stealing from those who have more than enough he does follow a strict personal code of honor.
