[color=salmon][indent]The first word that comes to mind when talking about Marlena is SPOILED, which comes as a consequence of being the baby of the Castillo family. However, being born with a silver spoon in her mouth hasn't stopped her from being the kind of girl to get everything her mind sets to… Even if it means stepping over others and using tactics like manipulation, deceit or blackmail. Marls is very determined and persistent, always pushing herself to give only her best. She is also charming, outgoing, sarcastic, a little bitchy, impatient, loves to have fun and is a very big flirt. Her temper is a quick one, and she possesses no tolerance for bullshit. She is also quite shallow, constantly fussing over her looks. Marlie also tries to appear as an unreachable, untouchable force to be reckoned with who will only give you the time of day if she finds you interesting.

However, once she lets you in, you see another side of Marlena. She can be caring, sweet and loyal to a fault. She is also very loving and affectionate border-lining with clingy. She’s a very passionate lover who will fall hard and deep for the person who claims her heart. As such, she can be very jealous and possessive of what she considers hers.[/indent][/color]

[color=salmon][indent]Marlena Alejandra Castillo made her entrance into the world on the eighteenth day of the ninth month of the new millenium. Born at 17 minutes after her brother, the premature and complicated birth of the Castillo twins was enough for matriarch Gloria to decide she was done in the children department. Because she was born at 33 weeks of gestation, Marlie and her brother spent the first 74 days of their lives in the NICU, with both children having defeated the odds of a low percentage of survival. The difficulty of Marlie’s early days, the very real possibility of death and her ultimate survival branded her as the family’s little miracle. She became the apple of her family members’ eyes: the girl who could do no wrong and deserved the world. From the moment she arrived at her home as a tiny, bundled-up newborn, Marlie was raised to have only the best of the best. This meant having the most expensive clothes, accessories, the biggest birthday parties and toys… You name it. Not only was she spoiled in the material aspect, but in the personal aspect as well. She received all the love in the world -especially from her older brother Adrián, who had pretty much become her protector. It seemed things could not be going better for the picture-perfect Castillo family… Until the castle came crumbling down.

Her father’s imprisonment was a hard hit on Marlie. Being as young as she was and a complete daddy’s girl, she didn’t take to the news lightly. The young woman clearly remembers that fateful hard knocking on the door in the middle of the night, followed by a stream of heavily-armed and protected policemen stomping into her home. She watched as these men took her father away in handcuffs, while she cried and screamed and kicked at her older brother to let her go because “the bad men were taking Daddy away”. The heartbroken faces of her sobbing mother, her shocked sister and her brother’s silently furious tears were branded in her head for as long as she could remember.  The nightmarish thoughts of ever going through that again with any of her family members still kept her awake at night sometimes.

When she was old enough to attend school at Saint Luke’s Academy, Marlie found herself completely out of her forever-the-center-the-Universe element. Other kids with knowledge of her past made fun of her, her father, her family and the disgraceful events they had gone through. However, one death glare from Marlie and the mention of what her relatives or family associates could do to said bullies was enough to shut their little mouths, and to discourage any further behaviors like this from them and everyone else. Everybody that crossed paths with her had learned early on the one thing that followed her to this very day: you don’t mess with Marlie Castillo.

With the protection of her mother and older siblings (and eventually her father when she was sixteen), Marlie blossomed to an even more spoiled, imposing, confident young woman. Upon her arrival at Salem High School, she quickly established herself as the reigning queen bee: admired by most, despised by a few and feared by many. Her Hispanic curves got her attention from both males and females alike, which she happily exploited to her benefit or to satisfy her high-voltage desires. By the time she had graduated, she was a master at the art of seduction, with a list of victims who’d pretty much had no chance against her. Bored with how effortless it was to catch prey her age, Marlie decided to move onto bigger and better things. Currently, her goal is to seduce the oldest son of every important family of Salem. It’s proving itself to be a very entertaining -albeit dangerous- game.[/indent][/color]
