Serves as part of the boarding party when engaged in combat.
Personality: In his younger days it was simple to say he was an uneducated brute with nothing to live for. His whole life had been spent as a living battering ram to anybody holding his fate in their hands, often beaten into submission lest he try to turn on them. After his ordeal on the islands, Irving had a chance to understand himself. To know what he liked and didn't, think for himself where thought was needed. Wasn't always patience and understanding in all things. When on the islands he learned to forage, fish, cook minor meals over open flame, and got a minor understanding of certain aquatic life. His time with Isa were pleasant as they talked and shared their stories. To Irving it had been a chance to learn there was more to the world than bloodshed. In later years, Irving had taken to mimicking native tattoos on his skin. While the big man can barely read or write, he is still capable with a blade in hand. The taste for violence hasn't bled from his soul despite many attempts to wash himself clean of that past. History: The shallows have always bred disappointments. Humans, Elves, Dwarves, anything that is raised in comfort is looked on with disdain by the natives who have carved out a home and a life in the inhospitable 'realms' called the Black Reef. With Orcs raiding and pillaging, among other things, it comes as no surprise that survivors of such boarding parties are left alive to bring new life into the world. One such child was Bartuc, born from a human male and an Orc woman. Sold as a slave after birth, he was put to work on a dozen different ships as his leash changed hands over and over in an endless cycle of blood and hate. Greenskins coveted war and strife like no other and the flooding had done nothing to dampen their desire for carnage. Trained by pirates, the orcs had come from their homeland far to the west in an endless swarm. Bartuc had been gigantic as a 'human', lacking any Orcish traits besides his side, and was often forced to lead a charge of any kind. Brute strength carved his path to freedom when the last slaver that owned him ran afoul of one particular Orc commanding the ship "Skull Mashers". A Dwarven creation of wood and steel it was gigantic. Aboard this ship was thousands of Orcs and Goblins, humans, any that called the black reefs home as a pirate or brigand. The very heart of Organized Piracy. Few were slaves on this ship when they proved themselves. Bartuc had taken on dozens of enemies in short order and left them in scattered heaps of butchered flesh strewn about his path as his rampage through the lower bowels of the ships had the attention of the bigger names aboard looking down. His freedom was short-lived. Despite the impressive stature and strength in his limbs, Bartuc was ignorant. Slow of mind and quick of arm. Tasting freedom had awoken angry feelings of resentment that refused to see him put on another leash. Along with nearly 3 dozen other souls, Bartuc had been wrapped in rusty chains and tossed overboard. Instead of drowning as they had no doubt hoped, Irvings chains had come undone and he'd brought another soul with him. Two people from the nearly fifty that had gone over. Upon her body was a gift, or curse, from the sea. Originally thought to be a parasite of some kind, Bartuc had strung the girl up on some washed up ropes and wood when they made land. If it was a sea slug of some kind it would dry out and shrivel into nothing, leaving the girl alone. History attests that such had not been the case. With his new ally and her.. new ally? The two had struck a bargain with a passing ship for travel to the shallows somewhere, paying their way with physical labor, until being dumped on yet another island. From there they had struck up bargains with every passing ship they saw and managed to arrive at the Dwarven city of Karak Kharagul. Always looking for exceptional Individuals, Bartuc and Isabella had entered service to GREAT AQUARIUS as cooks. Having spent a number of years cooking anyways the pair had no problems blending in.
