Height does nothing, though, to hide the fact that--like many others in the poor village--Z is not always well fed. While not cachectic, her figure is rather slim; her youth and exuberance for life keeping her facial features from appearing gaunt. Her hands, as one of the most important parts of her craft, are the most well-cared for part of her appearance. Depending on the weather and her work, she can be seen in one of three peasant tunics she owns with minimal adornments. She always liked to ask them about the story, and they were happy to tell her... each time with a different and more wild story, but each story has one common element: Initially, they only meant to pass through, but once they saw how in need the village was of healers, they couldn't just leave. Then Z was born and before they knew it, the roots were too deep. She grew up helping them out at their healer's hut. She picked up the craft quite quickly. No matter the issue, even as a child, she had little to no trouble helping with the wounds farmers and hunters alike might sustain. The health of the villagers prospered more than most which improved the village yield of produce. Here with these people, Z always felt that she had a good life; it wasn't the best life, but it was hers and she felt like she made a difference. She developed her mind to match the skilled precision of her hands as she grew older; her parents were getting older and while they appreciate the help, they hope one day that she'll travel and see new places. Till then, Z is content where she is at. While not thrilled with the current political climate in her region, she makes the most of it. She rebels in her own tiny way with a secret garden of herbs and vegetables; tending to the sick and injured--and occasionally sneaking them an extra basket of produce--is the best she can do right now. But she dreams of traveling just as her parents did, one day, and discovering new places, people, and ideas.
