[indent] Lackadaisical and roguish. He is a strong-willed and free spirited individual capable of being easily annoyed and mean. This isn’t to say he’s a antisocial and mean-spirited person. He’s relatively calm and well-adjusted, but theirs is some amount of selfishness and loose morals that make him a dick at times.

[indent]Lance grew up in a pretty mundane and relatively privileged background. His needs were taken care of and he really suffered no real outside of some accidents from being reckless while playing outdoors. When he was younger the opportunity to become a pokemon trainer and go wonder around was presented to him. However, he couldn’t be bothered to go travel around through wilderness for the sake of collecting badges and entering a tourney. He did however capture some pokemon around his area and was fond of a Pidove he named “Flaps”.

As he got older he found himself more distanced from raising them and eventually had to release them. He went to school and found himself some decent paying jobs in something he’s good at. The problem is at his current job, he hates working there. From the people, to the environment, he hates it all and wishes to quit, the problem is wants to work just long enough so they can give him a good recommendation for his new job but finds his patience fraying at having to be there. 

Truthfully, he didn’t expect to win the contest, but it’s a good excuse as any to blow off work and have some, while figuring out a excuse as to why he’s quitting and free himself. He’s used some of his savings to kit himself out in good sturdy backpack and some multi-pocketed jeans filled with stuff to help him along. As a joke/self-imposed challenge he fished up a magikarp as his starter.

[indent] As they say, in theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is. He's read some stuff and knows some basic stuff. That being said, it's going to be different doing firsthand but he figures it's not going to be terribly difficult to learn.

[indent] Unlike others who wish to aspire to some great skill at battling, he really doesn’t give care about that at all. To him this a nice vacation/ camping trip where he’ll screw around in the wilderness capturing creatures. To him this path they’ll be going on is more of a very loose suggestion of where to go. He intends to sidetrack himself and enjoy himself. Also he finds it of interest to see the path as filter through the eyes and wallet of an adult.
