Although perhaps he wasn't exactly on a first name basis with these people, he couldn't exactly call them lady A and lady B now could? Still, he felt like he couldn't let this clash go on without saying something. Hopefully they understood his good intentions and didn't simply take him out, because Dawkin was entirely confident that the two Pokemon on the field right now could easily defeat his small team without suffering a scratch.
