Character Gender: Male Appearance: Michael stands 6 feet exactly, his frame is lean. He appears externally human with no blemishes or scars. His medium brown hair is not really hair, it does not grow, he also can't grow facial hair. His skin is a synthetic fiber that feels like real skin but is almost plastic in its composition. His eyes are a deep blue. He has not changed appearance wise in the last five years. Profession: Originally designed to work with the scientists on the Vitae for whatever task they require, he has since earned a position as a respected member of the science team. Nationality: Synthetic android Strengths:

He has a near encyclopedic knowledge of recorded human history. He can recall any point if asked to. Also will constantly add to this knowledge over the Vitae's journey, he has done just this over the last five years.
He also possesses a deep knowledge of many different types of sciences, comparable to a supercomputer.
Michael is stronger, faster and better coordinated than a human being. But his strength is not superhuman by any means. It's comparable to modern, lesser advanced robots. He's reluctant to show these strengths.
He was given a fully functional, detailed personality. Designed to be as human-like as possible in this aspect. He can easily blend in and appear fully human. Few aboard the Vitae know of his true nature.
He knows how to make basic repairs to himself and has a tool kit within his quarters. If he were to suffer more extreme injuries then he would need assistance from others.
Michael does not need to eat, drink, sleep or breath. He can also survive in an oxygen-less environment such as outer space.
He is fully capable of learning and adapting, potentially able to overcome some of the faults in his programming.
Weaknesses:

Michael was programmed to never harm another human being, even if he is being attacked. Violence against humans is something that would never occur in his mind.
He freely thinks but does not have free will, whatever his creators ask he will do. As long as what is asked of him is within his programming.
His personality is very naive, he was given emotions but does not really understand what its like to be human. He'll often ask 'odd' questions about human nature and has an almost child-like curiosity about life. Even in the years that have passed during his time on the Vitae he still has much to learn in this regard.
He does not feel empathy, if told something that would cause an emotional response in a human he will often stare blankly and appear unaffected, not sure how to react. Michael is able to feel severe emotions that can cause him to cry, but these are brought on by himself.
Michael does not bleed, this would give away to someone that doesn't already know that he is not a real human. Internally he is filled with complex machinery, externally he appears fully human.
His body is quite fragile, his skeleton is sturdy but many of his internal mechanisms are vulnerable. His central processor is located in his head, if that is damaged enough then he will shut down.
His programming is susceptible to modifications, if someone wanted to modify him for whatever reason then they could and he would be forced to adjust to it. In the five years that have passed no modifications have been made to his programming.
If his serial number (MHSA276012) is read out loud enough for him to hear then he will shut down on the spot.
Personal Effects: Michael does not have many personal possessions, in his room he only has a small wardrobe of clothes and his repair kit. Bio: Michael was constructed by the a small team of scientists, the concept for the creation of a humanoid synthetic only something seen in science fiction until then. Robotics and artificial intelligence are both something the human race is familiar with, but Michael is something completely different. If God made humans in his image, then Michael was made in his own creator's image as well. His creation was a hotly debated subject amongst the few that actually knew of the idea, some frowned upon it, others saw it as a necessity. If we were gathering the greatest of our species, then why not simply create one that would be destined for greatness? They had the technology, no one just had ever given serious thought to creating a truly synthetic man. The cost of his creation was a high one, but money was not an issue when the survival of the human race was at stake. It took some time to build him, they started from scratch and spent every dime required to make him perfect. It was not rushed, every single moment of it was monitored closely to ensure perfection. They could not afford any failures with such a delicate operation. Early on in the android's creation some within the team voiced a concern to limit their machine man, they ultimately decided to treat him the same as their artificial intelligence. Michael was given the ability to freely think but not freely act, though his programming left opportunities for modifications. He would answer wholly to those that made him, do whatever was asked without hesitation. After months of focus and dedication the synthetic man was completed. The final touch was to give him a name, Micheal, there was a certain irony in bestowing a biblical name upon the android but it was oddly fitting. On the Vitae The android was moved onto the Vitae, weeks before its launch. Sealed away in a secured contained the robotic man was activated upon launch. With some of his creators aboard the vessel, his true existence was a kept secret among a select few important individuals. A pinnacle of human advancement in the field of robotics, it was only fitting that he would find himself sent away with humanity's chosen survivors. His first weeks aboard the ship were guided by one of his leading creators, Dr. Ethan Phillips, who would become a mentor to the 'naive' android. Michael had a place among the science team as he showcased his ingenuity in multiple fields. To everyone that was unaware of his true nature he was just a young scientific phenom, curious and non-confrontational. As the years passed in their journey the android has become an important voice in the science department, living up the expectations that had been placed on him before his activation. He has also gone on a few missions that have taken him off the ship, his skill set enabling him to assist in matters beyond just scientific ones. His curiosity has not been satisfied, in his free time often exploring corners of the massive vessel, interacting with different people from different backgrounds. This is all while his true nature has been successfully kept a secret to the masses aboard the Vitae. He has had thoughts of the Vitae's struggles at finding a new home for humanity, though very few have been pessimistic ones. His programmed personality is not one that dwells on sadness or despair, rather he deals with such troubles rationally. The galaxy is a massive place, Earth like worlds suitable for humanity to colonize and live upon are a rarity. With the advanced technologies at their disposal he remains utterly hopeful that they will find a new Earth, where humanity can prosper. Relationships:

Dr. Ethan Phillips - The most important person behind Michael's creation, Dr. Phillips has taken a role akin to a father figure for the curious android. He's Michael's closest confident, and someone the machine man truly cares for.
Audrey Knight - She was part of the team that created him, handpicked by Dr. Phillips himself.
Keith Sullivan - The chief engineer regularly performs tests on Michael to ensure the android's emotional responses are accurate. He commonly jokes with the synthetic man, many of these jokes often go over his head.
Dr. Naomi Wolfe - Michael and Dr. Wolfe are work colleagues, and the two have a friendly relationship.
Dr. Melanie Larson - He is friends with her, having crossed paths on the Vitae several times.
Rois Holt - Michael finds Rois to be a peculiar person, with strange quirks and a tendency to ask him odd questions. Still, he considers her a friend of his.
others TBA. His hair is trimmed short, and a light beard sits on the lower part of his face. His eyes are a brown shade, and light bags have formed under them due to a lack of consistent sleep. He was considered quite handsome in his younger years, and still is said to have some of this handsomeness though he longer cares about it. He's typically clad in suit and ties, neatly worn. Profession: Chief Investigator Nationality: Roslin Federation Strengths:

As a top detective back on Earth, and now on the Vitae he has keen investigative skills. He's a natural problem solver and a brilliant critical thinker.
Ray has a sharp eye for detail, and is able to remember things easily. He'll often recall small but important details in cases that can help solve it.
He's had training and plenty of experience in reading people. He knows the small nuances someone would give when they're telling a lie, able to read body language well.
He's a calm and composed individual that keeps his emotions under control. During investigations he is concentrated entirely on the mission, while keeping an open mind for any input from others.
He has had firearms training, and is a solid shot with a pistol.
Weaknesses:

He's a smoker, with a favoritism for cigars. It's a nasty habit and he knows it, but damn if it isn't good stress relief.
Ray puts the law first and foremost, while he will show humanity he does not show any sympathy for criminals, no matter the situation which led them to committing crimes.
He also harshly judges those that have committed crimes.
His marriage is a mess, and the deaths of both his children still affect him to this day. He won't talk about those things often, both in fear of dwelling in the pain and of appearing vulnerable.
Ray is generally a pessimistic person. He's seen a lot of grisly sights and had bad things happen to him in the past. He doesn't look at the future with much optimism.
Personal Effects: Ray lives in his cabin with his wife, he does not keep as many items as she does. But he does have a wardrobe of clothes, several photographs of his (now deceased) children and parents, a police badge from his time back on Earth, an old football from his college playing days and a small collection of fine Cuban cigars. Bio: Raymond Conley was born on the mean streets of Chicago, Illinois back on Earth. His parents were not the wealthiest, but they also weren't dirt poor. He was an only child and his parents cared about him deeply, they were a tight knit bunch. His father was a security guard, and essentially a role model to the young Ray. He was a solid student, not at the top of his class but nothing to scoff at. His childhood was nothing extreme, he had a good group of friends and enjoyed playing sports in high school, particularly football. Early on his senior year of high school his father died, killed by a man trying to rob the bank he guarded at night. This event shook Ray, becoming a large reason for him deciding to go into law enforcement. He never wanted another kid to feel like he did, to lose a parent in such a senseless violent act. After graduating high school he went to Illinois State University, majoring in criminal justice. He also played on the football team for two years before a knee injury ended his career in the sport. From there his focus shifted entirely to becoming a police officer. He worked tirelessly and after four years received his hard earned degree. From there he was accepted into a police academy in Chicago. His dream was quickly becoming a reality. During this time the Three Day War would occur, and Ray would recall feeling intense fear at the news. It felt just like something pulled out of science fiction. Little did he know down the road there would be a second attack which would completly change his life. Following success at the academy he would be accepted into the Chicago Police Department. He'd show potential as an officer of the law from the moment he become an officer. After a few years doing basic police work he'd find himself promoted to a detective. Ray earned a reputation as a tirelessly hard working and focused detective, one who traced every single detail and followed each lead. He solved several cases which plagued the rough Chicago streets. A landmark moment in his career was as a key detective in the Spider murder case, in which a notorious serial killer had murdered over a dozen young women across the midwest united states. On each murder victim he'd carve a spider symbol into their neck. Ray was one of the men who solved it, and caught the killer. The case drew national attention, and gave Ray very high recognition. He'd meet his future wife Anna in his early thirties, smitten with her from the moment he'd seen her. The two got married after two years together. During this time they had two children, a daughter, Allison and a son, Nicholas. Their two kids were three years apart in age. This was a big life even fro Ray, but another would soon follow. After a distinguished fourteen year career with the Chicago PD he'd find himself offered a new job opportunity with the federal government. Ray took the offer and become a part of the Department of Homeland security, it was a step up from the police department in both pay and job difficulty. Still, Ray met the challenge head on. Ray was now an agent of the DHS, focused on the sector of terrorism. His detective skills were were a great fit here, as he used to them to help stop several terrorist attacks before they occurred. A particular case of note he took on was stopping a group of pro Martian terrorists from blowing up a Roslin government building. The Martian government would claim no affiliation with the terrorists. Soon enough Ray would be promoted to special agent and become an integral part of the DHS in his area. All was not great in his life though, as he was involved in a serious car crash. Hit from the side by a drunk driver, both his children were killed as his car tumbled and rolled multiple times. Ray escaped with a few broken bones, surviving to find in horror that both of his kids were gone. He did not receive the news until he awoke in the hospital several hours after. At that moment the only emotions he felt were intense, almost overwhelming sadness mixed with anger. Anger that such a thing had happened, even though it was not his fault he has blamed himself since then for it. A few years later he was informed of the Genesis Project, and together with his wife took the initiative as he was invited onboard due to his excellence in the field of criminal investigations. The five years since his departure from Earth have not been great, his wife and him have grown distant, while his work manages to keep him occupied it is not as 'thrill filled' as his previous jobs. He's thankful that people aren't being killed or anything of that like, but its been a big change from the often brutal work in te DHS or the CPD. He doesn't truly believe they'll ever find another homeworld, though he tries not to speak this outlook. He'd very much like to be proven wrong though. Relationships:

Anna Conley - his wife of ten years, the two have grown more distant since their arrival to the Vitae. There is still some love between them, but it rarely truly shows. Others TBA.
Code Word: Spaghetti
