His hair is trimmed short, and a light beard sits on the lower part of his face. His eyes are a brown shade, and light bags have formed under them due to a lack of consistent sleep. He was considered quite handsome in his younger years, and still is said to have some of this handsomeness though he longer cares about it. He's typically clad in suit and ties, neatly worn. Profession: Chief Investigator Nationality: Roslin Federation Strengths:

As a top detective back on Earth, and now on the Vitae he has keen investigative skills. He's a natural problem solver and a brilliant critical thinker.
Ray has a sharp eye for detail, and is able to remember things easily. He'll often recall small but important details in cases that can help solve it.
He's had training and plenty of experience in reading people. He knows the small nuances someone would give when they're telling a lie, able to read body language well.
He's a calm and composed individual that keeps his emotions under control. During investigations he is concentrated entirely on the mission, while keeping an open mind for any input from others.
He has had firearms training, and is a solid shot with a pistol.
Weaknesses:

He's a smoker, with a favoritism for cigars. It's a nasty habit and he knows it, but damn if it isn't good stress relief.
Ray puts the law first and foremost, while he will show humanity he does not show any sympathy for criminals, no matter the situation which led them to committing crimes.
He also harshly judges those that have committed crimes.
His marriage is a mess, and the deaths of both his children still affect him to this day. He won't talk about those things often, both in fear of dwelling in the pain and of appearing vulnerable.
Ray is generally a pessimistic person. He's seen a lot of grisly sights and had bad things happen to him in the past. He doesn't look at the future with much optimism.
Personal Effects: Ray lives in his cabin with his wife, he does not keep as many items as she does. But he does have a wardrobe of clothes, several photographs of his (now deceased) children and parents, a police badge from his time back on Earth, an old football from his college playing days and a small collection of fine Cuban cigars. Bio: Raymond Conley was born on the mean streets of Chicago, Illinois back on Earth. His parents were not the wealthiest, but they also weren't dirt poor. He was an only child and his parents cared about him deeply, they were a tight knit bunch. His father was a security guard, and essentially a role model to the young Ray. He was a solid student, not at the top of his class but nothing to scoff at. His childhood was nothing extreme, he had a good group of friends and enjoyed playing sports in high school, particularly football. Early on his senior year of high school his father died, killed by a man trying to rob the bank he guarded at night. This event shook Ray, becoming a large reason for him deciding to go into law enforcement. He never wanted another kid to feel like he did, to lose a parent in such a senseless violent act. After graduating high school he went to Illinois State University, majoring in criminal justice. He also played on the football team for two years before a knee injury ended his career in the sport. From there his focus shifted entirely to becoming a police officer. He worked tirelessly and after four years received his hard earned degree. From there he was accepted into a police academy in Chicago. His dream was quickly becoming a reality. During this time the Three Day War would occur, and Ray would recall feeling intense fear at the news. It felt just like something pulled out of science fiction. Little did he know down the road there would be a second attack which would completly change his life. Following success at the academy he would be accepted into the Chicago Police Department. He'd show potential as an officer of the law from the moment he become an officer. After a few years doing basic police work he'd find himself promoted to a detective. Ray earned a reputation as a tirelessly hard working and focused detective, one who traced every single detail and followed each lead. He solved several cases which plagued the rough Chicago streets. A landmark moment in his career was as a key detective in the Spider murder case, in which a notorious serial killer had murdered over a dozen young women across the midwest united states. On each murder victim he'd carve a spider symbol into their neck. Ray was one of the men who solved it, and caught the killer. The case drew national attention, and gave Ray very high recognition. He'd meet his future wife Anna in his early thirties, smitten with her from the moment he'd seen her. The two got married after two years together. During this time they had two children, a daughter, Allison and a son, Nicholas. Their two kids were three years apart in age. This was a big life even fro Ray, but another would soon follow. After a distinguished fourteen year career with the Chicago PD he'd find himself offered a new job opportunity with the federal government. Ray took the offer and become a part of the Department of Homeland security, it was a step up from the police department in both pay and job difficulty. Still, Ray met the challenge head on. Ray was now an agent of the DHS, focused on the sector of terrorism. His detective skills were were a great fit here, as he used to them to help stop several terrorist attacks before they occurred. A particular case of note he took on was stopping a group of pro Martian terrorists from blowing up a Roslin government building. The Martian government would claim no affiliation with the terrorists. Soon enough Ray would be promoted to special agent and become an integral part of the DHS in his area. All was not great in his life though, as he was involved in a serious car crash. Hit from the side by a drunk driver, both his children were killed as his car tumbled and rolled multiple times. Ray escaped with a few broken bones, surviving to find in horror that both of his kids were gone. He did not receive the news until he awoke in the hospital several hours after. At that moment the only emotions he felt were intense, almost overwhelming sadness mixed with anger. Anger that such a thing had happened, even though it was not his fault he has blamed himself since then for it. A few years later he was informed of the Genesis Project, and together with his wife took the initiative as he was invited onboard due to his excellence in the field of criminal investigations. The five years since his departure from Earth have not been great, his wife and him have grown distant, while his work manages to keep him occupied it is not as 'thrill filled' as his previous jobs. He's thankful that people aren't being killed or anything of that like, but its been a big change from the often brutal work in te DHS or the CPD. He doesn't truly believe they'll ever find another homeworld, though he tries not to speak this outlook. He'd very much like to be proven wrong though. Relationships:

Anna Conley - his wife of ten years, the two have grown more distant since their arrival to the Vitae. There is still some love between them, but it rarely truly shows. Others TBA.
Code Word: Spaghetti
