Really? You're going to preach the D&D bible at me?
D&D 3.5 was a great system, but 3.6 was slightly improved. 4.0 made it all too wargame-y, removing the uniqueness of the classes and the overall feel. However, I found the rules were much easier to use to get non-gamers to understand them, as they were more clearly presented, and the GM's guide was just plain awesome.
