Riley had a somewhat normal childhood. She grew up the youngest child of large and prosperous family. She had Two Parents who loved and cared for her and two brothers who joked with her and protected her. Then at the age of ten, the 3 day war happened. Her entire extended family gathered together to wait for news of Victory or their impending deaths. Collectively they all breathed a sigh of relief when the good news came.  
A short time later, Riley’s oldest brother enlisted. He never wanted to feel as hopeless and useless as he had during those three days. At first her family was uneasy about his decision, but it became clear that it was where he was meant to be. A few years later Riley’s other Brother enlisted. Riley could not have been more proud of her brothers, and with the encouragement of her family and brothers at the age of 18 she enlisted too. 
Over the next 12 years she climbed the ranks. It had not been easier, but with her Brothers always several steps ahead of her she pushed herself hard and never gave up. She found what she was good at in the Special Forces doing intelligence gathering. She made a name for herself among the higher ups as a troublemaker but a person who always gets dependable information. She was part of several Top Secret missions with only one ending in failure. However, that mission ended with the loss of a dear friend of hers. That’s also when her drinking began.
Then when both of her brothers were accepted into the Genesis Project, she was inspired to apply. At first looked like she wasn’t going to make it in. She waited over a year to hear back and with every month she became more devastated. Then a representative showed up at her preverbal door. She had been accepted. She was to report to the Vitae and check in under Captain Matthew Lopez.
