[@Drunken Conquistador] looks great, could you just clarify for me who these mighty children and the golden king are, are they/were they human or are they something more?
Sure, the Golden King was just a powerful human wizard who ruled Ifanen when the Island sunk. It's not a character that I'm planning on introducing, I just included him because technically all Sorcerer-Kings claim to be serving him still, and as such he's still the "ruler" of the Eternal Realm, even if the place is more disunited than the Holy Roman Empire The Mighty Children were essentially what the Ifanen called themselves. Now the name means the Sorcerer-Kings and their immediate descendants. Those wizards and lords who made pacts with Demons and vaguely defined Star Gods to survive the cataclysm that destroyed their homeland. Turning themselves into something beyond human, the weaker ones simply turned themselves into liches and the like, betting on Undeath to ride out the storm, while the most powerful ones (like the ones named in the CS) made deals with their Star Gods (or what they believed to be their Star Gods in any case) to become powerful and immortal. Side effect included turning them into varying levels of insane and physical mutations that become more and more apparent as they grow older unless they actually make an effort at suppressing them. The latter category are few in number, in the very low hundreds spread all over the Eternal Realm. Because of the difficulty and cost of actually performing the necessary rituals. Otherwise, if you were to try the "conventional" way, you would get a half breed and not a Spawn, which is how the Mighty Children call their full blooded young.
