This took the form of threats and intended punishments but try as she might the smaller unit she carried couldn’t manage to get a signal out using its weak transmitter. When she did get close enough to an exit to finally transmit the lieutenant in charge of the detail sent to find her responded to her by screaming his threats at her annoying her so much that she felt in danger worried he might actually act on his physical promises. So it wasn’t surprising when he and his capture squad came stomping towards her tracer signal that her balky control of probability acted to protect her. They were all pointing weapons at her and screaming for her to lay on her belly in the dirty water which she looked at dubiously wondering if there were viruses or other bacterial nasties just waiting for her in the slime coated concrete. Then just as she was about to comply a plug of trash which had been blocking a cross tunnel that emptied out between herself and the squad gave way under pressure and the vibrations their boots sent radiating out. In a rush a wall of water and trash covered them knocking them off their feet and covering them in slime that would result in their later contracting rashes that would be worse than poison ivy. The upside for Sydney was that they had shown her the way out so she thought of making a hasty exit but her better angel forced her to help them up and she was happy to find out that they were for the most part unharmed. She exited the tunnels thinking she’d have to share a ride with the squad that clearly thought their troubles were her fault but she was saved by the police liaison who said they needed her to do a read of the bots before others muddled the temporal streams. So it was two hours after she’d finished her scans a smelly and tired Sydney walked into the tower and headed to the shower to scrub off the grime of her recent ordeal.
