She ran her finger along the top, noticing that the last sheet of paper used on it had been ripped off. She thought for a moment, before she realized how familiar the paper seemed to her own notebook. There were occasions where she would rip out a page, only to notice the slight indentations of it remained on the next page. Nora glanced around the room, until she procured a pencil. She remembered it working on her own notes, whenever she had grown bored and decided just to shade in a page. Very lightly, Nora began to shade in the top page of the pad, watching to see if any words or symbols or shapes popped out. There was a chance that she was wrong and she was wasting a perfectly good piece of paper, but she had a gut feeling telling her that this approach would provide some clue of great importance. Coincidences seemed to be a rare thing in this situation and she didn't want to leave any stone unturned.
