Veronica grew up on the Ollerton estate, located on the outskirts of the village of Starcross, in England. She lived here with her parents Mordechai and Beulah Starkey, and her siblings Ben, Walt, and Margie. It was her grandfather Balius manor, but he preferred living in New York, and so 

 She was born in the middle of winter, and barley a hour old she showed signs of magic.  Most of her early childhood was spent reading, drawing, and running around with her brothers. She also liked to eavesdrop on her parent's conversations. She got in trouble more than once for making pretend potions out of mud and juice in her bathroom. She and her older brother, spent a great deal time together in their mother’s greenhouse, planting
