[@Ashgan]The 'skill checks' are mostly for me and my planning. With a 'skill check' I can hint at there being something there of interest, but you as the player decide whether you want to pursue it. You know there is a risk of negative consequences, but you don't know how severe they will be. Let's say that a character takes it seriously, that they feel some kind of occult presence. If it later turns out to be true, they might not be as startled or crippled when action is required to save their own life. Simplified example here, but you get the idea. Not interacting with the Soul indicator is technically a 'failed interaction', but the way in which the Soul indicator is described, you can sort of figure that the consequence might not be all that severe.
