[@Lurking Krog][@MissCapnCrunch] Like I said, Wikipedia searches are more than fine to draw inspiration from. This is just a free RP and it's all in fun, lol, I'd just like it to be rooted in real events. Here are some of the articles I've been reading! Middle Anglo-Saxon history (660–899) (this is the most relevant section of a very big article, but the page also has good stuff about society and culture if you don't mind going down the wiki hole.) Mercian Supremacy and Ecgfrith of Mercia (short and sweet summaries. the last paragraph of the first article is the most important for us as it's about the end of Offa's reign. Ecgfrith died less than a year after his consecration and that was the beginning of the end for Mercia. this all would have happened just before our RP will begin.) Coenwulf of Mercia (the king during our RP. this is a long article but it has a lot of good info.) Some of these are pretty long, so if you just skim them or pick passages that catch your interest, that's perfectly fine. :)
