[i]Juniper, Emmett, and Jean began walking off toward the kitchen. But as they did so, Jean fell in step beside Juniper and lowered his voice to speak with her. Emmett lead the way, so this gave the cowboy and the girl a chance to speak mostly alone. Juniper noticed though that Emmett's posture and stride as the two spoke was growing annoyed and his body went from relaxed to tense. She figured he was listening somewhat to their conversation.
