For this game, only canon characters.  I'm not sticking to any one particular version of the Marvel universe, just a sort of "here's what everyone's more or less familiar with" take-- so, f'rinstance, if someone wants to do the MCU Iron Man they can, but that doesn't mean the person playing Spidey necessarily has to play MCU Spidey.
