Personality:
Scarlett has barely changed since school, she's still a wildly eccentric and unpredictable sort. One moment she'll be acting as if a dark power resided in her arm, trying her damnedest to keep it trapped within and the next she'll immerse in a pile of books. 

Even when someone tries to talk to her, her mind wanders and she has infuriated many people by just walking off as they talk. More intent on whatever is on her mind than the person next to her. Most people think she is quiet, but she is in fact totally mute. When she 'talks' to people, it's more in a series of hand signs or she'll simply write it down to save time. Or send long-winded texts in the blink of an eye.

Her mind also seems to resemble that of a child, behaving very childish most of the time and being excited by the littlest of things at times. She also has extreme Chuunibyou and dresses the part, often writing her own fantasy stories of her own exploits. All entirely made up of course, or entirely exaggerated to the point where they are fiction.

Both her personality and inability to speak have made it rather difficult to integrate with society, and the fact she's an elemental and isn't afraid to show it has made it all the harder for her to 'fit in'. As such, when she writes and sends her work in for publishing she uses the pen name 'Dark Shadow Scar'.

History:
Scarlett a mute from birth, and is the younger sibling of a set of twins. She and her brother were born into an anti-elemental family, but despite this, their mother was simply that...a mother to them. She loved and cherished her children. Their father, on the other hand, couldn't stand it when their powers came to the surface at the age of ten when Scarlett accidentally set the family car on fire. After much debate with their mother, he walked out on the young family soon after and she was raised by her mother and older twin brother for the remainder of the next five years. During these five years, however, she had grown less and less attached to reality and delved further into the realm of fiction.

She began reading fantasy novels of grand adventures, forbidden powers and evil, dark forces trying to end the world. She delved into all sorts of fantasy books, and eventually in anime, manga and light novels to top it off. Her imagination never really seemed to be turned off as a result, and she would act out her favourite scenes even during class.
Already being an outcast, she was an easy target for bullying and slowly her brother caught on. They moved schools several times as her brother resorted to using violence or his powers to protect her from bullies, before finally they were recommended to go to the Elemental Academy. Despite her brother's protests, their mother promptly sent them away for their own sake.

At this Academy, she shared rooms with Kris. At first, the girl got on Kris' nerves and she was either frozen solid or they needed a teacher to pull the violent ice user off the girl, but over time her antics were (largely) ignored, and one could argue they were friends. After graduation, Scarlett went with her brother to a university to study creative writing and drama. When she was twenty-three, she won a 'Young rising star' award for her debut novel series [i]Malicious Roses[/i]. Having been her roommate and keeping somewhat in contact with Kris after graduation, she was sent an invite from the ice user herself to join her in her plan to gatecrash her sister's wedding.

Deciding she could afford a break from her work, she promptly vanished without a word of warning to her publisher or family to answer Kris' call. What were friends for after all?
