He knew he couldn't trust his eyes, just like when they were attacked by the wolves, so his plan was to do exactly what he did then, and wait to see if he could get it to come to him. Back with the wolves, it had been pretty simple. Wait for them to get within a couple of metres of him and then bludgeon them to death with his staff. Easy peasy! The mud monster was a little smarter, and just threw a rock at them. He barely had time to react however before Nagi got pissed, shooting lasers at both the boulder and the monster itself, and while the rock did explode, the mud man barely seemed phased, flickering around the battlefield. "I don't think you're doing anything, Nagi!" He called out, sounding almost lazy, as he watched more mud simply fall back into the places where it had been blasted away. However, despite his tone, he was also on edge, all of his senses focusing on trying to catch the creature when it inevitably flickered into close range. And then, like he expected, it appeared directly in front of him, and he began to jump back and form hand signs. Which was when he got hit in the back, sending him flying forwards. While initially stunned, he quickly recovered, seeing the trees he was currently flying towards and realising he needed a way to land safely. Thinking at a mile a minute, he summoned a shadow clone, throwing it to the ground a little ways ahead of him. As soon as it hit the ground, it used Earth Flow Wave to summon a wave of mud to catch him. It hurt, but he managed to manoeuvre himself to land on his feet, keeping it from being too bad. Seeing that Nagi had also been thrown by the creatures swings, he had the clone manipulate the wave to catch her as well, while he used Hidden Mole to try and make her landing softer, in the unlikely scenario that she didn't land on her feet. It was at this point that he had an idea. His chakra nature was earth, after all, so maybe he'd be able to tell where it was by focusing on the vibrations in the earth when it stepped. And then, he remembered Nagi's lasers, and the seeds of a plan began to take shape. "Nagi, how hot can your lasers get?" He asked, his brow creased in tension. "Because I don't know for sure, but with my clones help, I might be able to trap it in earth walls. If I can do that and leave a tiny opening, and you can get enough heat inside, it might work like a kiln. We might be able to bake it until it hardens too much to move."
