Being asked for help is something he isn't as familiar with, could certainly help to opening him up a bit to the thought of friendship. That being said, he'll probably get annoyed if Alex acts too needy; And his lack of a filter when talking to people can make him come off a bit harsher than necessary. His blunt honesty will probably be beneficial in the long run, though I see it potentially causing some problems. :P
